Are we looking at the # of shootings or the # of victims? Per capita (The US has a massive population) or just straight numbers? Who's # 2?
Can't tell because the article doesn't say.
Here's something that is slightly more fact based and interesting:
Wikipedia shows that Canada has had 27 fatalities in school shootings (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_shooting#Canada ). The US has around 9.1 times the population of Canada (
http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=what+is+the+population+of+north+america ), so per capita, the US should have around 245 fatalities to be on par with Canada.
And Wikipedia shows we have had 233 (and one of those was a self-inflicted gunshot wound by the attacker, with no other fatalities).
So by that calculation, the US is actually doing better than Canada, a nation which has considerably more regulations on gun ownership.
