When did the phrase "awkward" start becoming part of Pop culture?

Example: Watching a tv sit com and one of the characters gets caught outside in their underpants
Then another character says in a certain one of voice: "Awkward!".....

Like, you know. They say in a higher pitch of voice. Anyways, I noticed it like part of the 2000s or something, but cant determine when it became in use like that. I dont mean the definition of "akward" itself, I mean when people say "awkward" more as adverb when they are in a funny situation.

Don't know.

I would be interested in when the word "actually" started being used almost inappropriately.

As in, you can ask somebody a basic question, say, "Where did you go to school" or something like that...and the answer is prefaced with "actually"..."Actually, I went to..."

Doesn't make sense. Would make sense if they were coreecting you, or, there was irony in their answer, but the way it is overused these days, doesn't make sense.

Kind of tired of "really?" and "he/she/they 'get it'". Both overused, and both tiresome.
