Exactly. I remember Jay Leno telling a lot of Cobain jokes
especially. Frankly, I could care less about any of them.

she wasnt a legend, she had a great run back in the 90's. but she hadnt done anyhting in years. she may have been a great person, but if she was so great then all those people who supposedly loved her should have tried to slow her down from her drug addicted lfestyle over the last dozen years. she knew what she was doing to herfself and just kept going. i feel bad for her family, especailly her daughter. but there is nobody to blame for her death but whitney herself.

I would classify her as a legend. Her heyday was not the 90's, but the 1980's, when her voice was phenomenal and the songs written for her were outstanding. Few singers have had a run like she did from 1985-early 1990's.

She's absolutely a legend. People all around the world know her, you just live in a bubble, so you wouldn't know that. Jim Greek, what are you talking about, since you clearly do not associate with blacks, how would you even know? Anyways, Whitney is a legend.

I do know because I remember when she became a big star. I remember in the newspapers and in other stories about black folks criticizing her music because she chose to record songs written by white people and because she chose not to go into a more rhythm and blues, and sould music direction. Ms. Houston responded with disjust, although I forget her exact quote. You can look it up if you don't believe me.
But my point is, now they all circle the wagons as if they claimed her as theirs all along.

So even though she was not as active in her latter years her musical legacy was so strong, she still out sold most artists that still play and tour today. She is the ONLY artist to inspire America to purchase 1 million+ copies of ther National Anthem and actually have it chart in the top ten of the Billboard charts. She single handledly introduced the powerhouse POP diva with crossover appeal that inspired countless singers like Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, and Christina Aguilera. She is and was DEFINITELY a legend and that's why people are making a big deal about her. Someone with 200 million+ fans is always gonna get that attention.

Well, I agree with you, as I stated earlier, that shw was a singing legend. And, you are correct, it wasn't all blacks who didn't like her music, but it was the "usual suspects", who criticize anyone who they deem isn't "black enough" whatever that means.

Facts:
1) She was a good singer for a time a long while ago.
2) She was a lousy human being.
3) She was a crackhead who is responsible for her own death.
4) She's dead (and her daughter's ranking pretty high in the death pool.)

Get over it and get a life of your own. You're no better or worse for what she did or did not do.
