To Gravis and all interested parties,

Months ago, many of you believed the Forum needed a Moderator. Remember? I think you were looking for a “lurker”…and that was me. So, I volunteered. It was not my idea…..it was yours. I’ll agree you did not necessarily “select” me. That, I’ll concede.

During the time I’ve been Moderator, I have been successful at reigning in a few posters who have very clearly violated Cary’s very liberal posted guidelines.

To the best of my recollection, I have limited my Moderating (on the main forum, that is) to those posters who have used the N word in an especially vile way, as well as, on a couple of occasions, moderated some extreme anti-Semitic postings. As a favor to Gravis, I corrected some posters on their use of all capitol letters when posting. FYI, that’s not even n the guidelines so, I could have let it slide.

As “The Moderator”, I’ve also tried to alert posters to the possibility they may be “talking” to a minor…as in, someone under the age of 18. With this tip, the “adult” poster might not tell the minor to go burn down a building….this was happening before I took over as Moderator…..I know, hard to believe, but true.

So, what’s the harm? Haven’t you kind of gotten used to me by now?

Alias and Gravis….you both seem to be very familiar with various mental conditions….again......coincidence???

Actually, “test” was a recognition of a successful “Log On” which was in question. But, good catch, Gravis, and thank you for trying to help out.

The Moderator will be in a travel status this weekend. I recall teachers often selecting the “high energy” student to take over the class when there was a brief absence. I believe it was a method used to have the student rise to the occasion.

During my absence, I am designating Gravis as substitute deputy Moderator.

I have also noticed the occasional poster who does not “feel” heard often becomes a troll and a nuisance for FU.
