Seven people were killed in Accokeek this morning.

After they were plowed into by a car without its lights on.

While they were watching an illegal street race.

At 3:40 in the morning.

On a major highway in PG County.

A 61-year-old guy is among the dead (apparently his grandchildren were able to get out of the way)...

On second thought, maybe I shouldn't be surprised.

I'm surprised more stuff like that doesn't happen at illegal street drag races. Years ago I went with some friends to watch some street drag races and the crowd stood right on the street as the cars flew by at 60-80 mph.

Intertesting it was on 210 Indian Head Hwy right across from the Fort Belvior and Lorton area. Seems that it wasn't to long ago that FFX police chased a bunch of street racers out of the old Lorton prison grounds when they were changing it over to the treatment plant. I wonder if this is the same group.

What is a 61 year old doing at 3:40am standing on the side of a highway watching illegal drag racing with his grand kids?

The press release from the police said that the cars involved in the street race had just completed burnouts and a layer of smoke covered the roadway and that it is possible that those that got hit were in the roadway.

I love how the people standing in the road are now "demanding answers." I have an answer for you...don't stand in the fucking road at 3:50 am! That's your Goddamn answer, dumbasses! Pisses me off that this is somehow not their fault for standing in the fucking road, watching an illegal race with their fucking KIDS at 3:50 am.

I talked with a guy who races at the Budds Creek Md Drag Strip(close to Accokeek) and he said that Budds Creek closes down during the Winter so many of the racers take to the streets in that area.

Apparently word on the street of the last race had been out for a while and many people were tailgating before hand.
