My Secret Shame
Posted by: Ashamed ()
Date: December 02, 2011 01:19AM

This is my secret shame: I love eating imitation bacon bits.

You've probably seen them at your supermarket. They stock 'em in the salad dressing aisle. All they are is textured soy flour, canola oil, and salt, with a bit of flavoring and food coloring. A true abomination to real food. They also make your farts stink as if you'd shoved a half-dozen rotten eggs up your arse hole.

But God help me, I do love eating them.

I don't even eat them with something; I just twist the cap off the little bottle and pour myself a mouthful. Then another. And another.

I'm going to finish up the bottle in this picture before I go to bed tonight. Hell, I've almost finished it up while writing this post.

That is my secret shame.

I have to admit, on further review, artificial bacon bits are pretty bad. The real ones are awesome....Especially those that come from a bottle and the bits have developed a bith of crunch and are slightly compacted.

My shame is better than yours.

I love to eat Korean spiced seaweed and the taste is soooooo good!

Compare to other asian seaweed and they are bland as cardboard.

Thank you Koreans!

Yeah, the whipped cream is always sold in the same aisle as Mr. Boston egg nog. I don't know what the alcohol content of food items has to be for it to be required to be sold in ABC. Godiva stores in malls are allowed to sell chocolate liqueurs....

Blessed are the murderous.

A family friend used to eat those pickled lamb tongues ALL the time. It used to gross us kids out and we always made a big deal of it whenever he got one out. They are really really disgusting-looking.

Pickled red beet eggs were (and still are) a very common party/picnic food.

All those pho joints offer tripe as an option, it seems to be popular with SE Asians. It's a big Italian and South American thing too.

I've had alligator around here, I think at Tony & Joe's in Georgetown. I didn't care for it, but it wasn't that bad. It was rubbery and kinda tasted like clam strips.

It's the worst thing I've ever eaten! And whoever said clam strips, I don't like those either...I guess there is a correlation there.

Alligator is pretty good. Rubbery, but tastes like chicken. Okra's in Old Town Manasass has a real good fried alligator appetizer.
