Newt Gringrich Now Leads In Two US Poll for GOP
Posted by: GoNewt ()
Date: November 15, 2011 09:51AM

Two national polls released this afternoon show Newt Gingrich jumping to the top of the Republican presidential field, beating or statistically tying Mitt Romney and Herman Cain.

In a CNN/Opinion Research poll, Gingrich now draws 22 percent of the vote to Romney’s 24 percent, Cain’s 14 percent and Rick Perry’s 12 percent. A Public Policy Polling survey has Gingrich at 28 percent, Cain at 25 percent, Romney at 18 percent and Perry at 6 percent.

There’s obviously quite a bit of variation in those numbers, but the common theme is that the former House speaker is on the upswing.

A great quote from a great man...

If combat means living in a ditch, females have biological problems staying in a ditch for thirty days because they get infections and they don't have upper body strength. I mean, some do, but they're relatively rare. On the other hand, men are basically little piglets, you drop them in the ditch, they roll around in it, doesn't matter, you know. These things are very real. On the other hand, if combat means being on an Aegis-class cruiser managing the computer controls for twelve ships and their rockets, a female may be again dramatically better than a male who gets very, very frustrated sitting in a chair all the time because males are biologically driven to go out and hunt giraffes.

The difference between Newt and Cain, or even Romney is that Newt was a known figure already - a lot of people already know about his past. While vetting him more thoroughly may reveal some small details, the fact is he is probably better prepared to answer them, and is a lot smarter than the folks looking to question him. I wouldn't count him out anywhere near as easily as what has happened to Cain. Just the fact that he decided to stay in the race with a limited campaign staff says a lot. What folks may perceive in character flaws will be more than made up for by the fact that the guy can run circles around the opposition - and watching him in a debate with Obama would pretty much seal the deal if he makes it to the nomination.

Gingrich may be intelligent, but he is arrogant, unlikeable and prone to taking legitimate arguments and making them sound stupid because of his propensity to try to sound like the smartest guy in the room. Also, don't forget that it was conservatives in the Republican Party who showed him the door in the 90s, not Dems. There was a reason for that and I highly doubt much has changed since then.

So science matters when it involves policy making to prevent global warming & the environment but is dismissed with regards to gender equality in the military.

This is all wiki-quotes has on Newt:

Obama's is much more extensive - and troubling:

http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Obama

For instance:
The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation. In instances of self-defense, the President would be within his constitutional authority to act before advising Congress or seeking its consent. History has shown us time and again, however, that military action is most successful when it is authorized and supported by the Legislative branch. It is always preferable to have the informed consent of Congress prior to any military action. As for the specific question about bombing suspected nuclear sites, I recently introduced S.J.Res.23, which states in part that “any offensive military action taken by the United States against Iran must be explicitly authorized by Congress.”

In response to a question "In what circumstances would the president have constitutional authority to bomb Iran without seeking a use-of-force authorization from Congress?"

...Gibson: And in each instance, when the [capital gains tax] rate dropped, revenues from the tax increased; the government took in more money. And in the 1980s, when the tax was increased to 28 percent, the revenues went down. So why raise it at all, especially given the fact that 100 million people in this country own stock and would be affected?
Obama: Well, Charlie, what I’ve said is that I would look at raising the capital gains tax for purposes of fairness.

This is really based on science? Do you know what Gingrich's personal chair-sitting to giraffe-hunting ratio is? I would venture to guess it is similar to that of most American males. As for the crusty vagina issue, I don't think our troops have spent 30 days in a ditch in decades. Gingrich obviously doesn't understand modern warfare despite his reference to Aegis-class cruisers.

The point was, it doesn't seem like there are that many "wierd" Ginrich quotes out there. The ones Obama made prior to 2004 no one knows about since the slate was wiped clean at some point by some very diligent Democratic operatives. Since he has been in office the "uh uh uh uh ..." answers show how helpless he is most of the time without a teleprompter in front of him - unless he is talking about race relations or his church. The essence of the quote you have from Gingrich is fine - just because you don't like how he worded it doesn't make it an issue. The fact is he pointed out that there are situations in combat where men are superior to women and vice-versa.

So Newt is not qualified on such matters because he did not sever in the militaty and is a chair sitter.

However, as far as i know,so are you. Per your arguement, you're also not qualified to contemplate such matters either. Therefore your opinion on Newts comments are irrelevant.

What Gingrich is saying isn't based on biology. Man invented the fucking chair for a reason. As for the vagina thing, man also invented the tampon. I'm not saying that Gingrich can't serve because he sat on a chair instead of serving in the military. I'm saying his whole premise is bullshit that is easily dismissed by reality.

As for whether or not I'm more or less qualified to discuss these matters than Gingrich, truth is I'm probably just as clueless as Gingrich. Difference is I'm not running for President.

One thing is accurate. Whoever ends up in the lead out that disaster called the GOP presidential field, not a chance against Obama.

Obama hasn't even begun to campaign and the Republicans are dropping like flies. I can only imagine when the democrats start to tear into all the Republican bullshit how devastating it will be.

The republican party and its caveman ideas are dead. They don't work.

Remind me of the last time the Democrats held as many debates prior to an election? That is really the issue here, nothing else. Once they get down to one or two candidates this will be old news - and really, I would imagine Obama really doesn't want to have to debate Gingrich. Matter of fact, people are talking about paying money to see Obama and Gingrich debate - it would be interesting to see who could come across less pretentious while explaining themselves - but hands down Gingrich would wipe the floor with Obama on policy.

Is Gingrich any less gaffe-prone than Cain? Or Perry? Or Bachmann? Or anyone else in the current GOP field?

Gingrich says crazy shit, too (e.g.; it would be just to imprison Dodd & Frank for their roles in the financial crisis), just like Cain, Perry & Bachmann.

Gingrich’s campaign is really more of a book/media tour. His ‘campaign’ stops are predominately book readings/signings & DVD screenings by he & his wife. This is very similar to Cain’s campaign strategy: Pretend to run for president to enrich one’s self.

Gingrich has LOTS of baggage; many, many past foibles, indiscretions, failings.

Gingrich is instinctively disliked by most people who meet him.

Gingrich’s arrogance & self-aggrandizement make President Obama look like Mother Teresa.

Gingrich is, by virtue of attrition & a shrinking timeline, the last ‘flash-in-the-pan’ of the 2012 GOP candidate parade.

I predict that by the South Carolina primary, Wilbur has the nomination locked up and we will be cursed with a 9 month general election campaign between he and President Obama.

The Law...

Increases civil penalty for knowing and willful violations of the Lobby Disclosure Act from $50,000 to $200,000 and imposes a criminal penalty of up to five years for knowing and corrupt failure to comply with the Act.

Compliance includes registering as a lobbyist and disclosing that you are, in fact, lobbying. No organization pays $1.6 million to "an historian."

EDIT: Clarification, he did it for Freddie Mac, not Fannie Mae. Not sure that makes me an idiot, but I'm sure RV will disagree.

You can be perfectly legal and not violate the Lobbying Act but still make money on the side. It's wouldn't surprise me if Gingrich got "presents." Often times it's a deal for a high paying position after a term is up.

The problem is that the 2012 GOP candidates in the race right now have a history of "Washington politics." It's is going to kill them when Obama starts exposing them.

It is against the law to be a paid agent and lobby members of Congress without being registered. If you are Joe Citizen complaining to a Member, that's one thing. But if Gingrich met with Members of Congress and advocated on Freddie Mac's behalf while in its payroll, he committed a crime.

I believe Gingrich is saying he was a "consultant" not a lobbyist.

In all honest Obama has already won the election. I think 2012 is just a way to give some Republican favors to a couple of GOP candidates.

Please, please, please nominate Gingrich.

He would spend us right out of this recession on jewelry purchases alone.

Nothing like a guy who has the will to dump his wife on her deathbed.

He should have the position soley on the massive size of his head.

It's pretty obvious that Democratic party is picking and choosing who they want Obama to run against. Romney is the guy they want to run against. All Obama has to do is start hitting him on healthcare laws he passed. That plus being Mormon should be easy to crush.
