The kids who participate in this are geeky and funny to watch, and the show is like playing "Are you smarter than a 12th grader?"

I liked the show and used to watch it for a brief spell, just to test my own knowledge and watch local talent soar or bomb.

Old Man McGarry is through at 85 and another DC area tradition dies.

Yeah I guess that guy is old as dirt so time to pack it in, but sucks losing yet another DMV tradition. Fondly remember watching that in the early 80s when I was in highschool. You'd see the nerdy chess club types battling it out on TV! Real eye openers were the times when they'd have like one VA, one DC and one private school. VA and private schools would just totally smoke DC public schools. Don't need a bunch of standard tests to see the quality of education your DC tax dollars got you.

Supposedly Mac McGarry was a real stud, the kinda dude who could walk into a bar and have women just throw themselves at him. There are rumors of him bagging a different babe almost every night and supposedly he got busy with every female news anchor in DC for the past few decades.

I used to love that show. It was a great way to tell which schools had the smartest kids and which ones were mostly dummies. Any word on who will take over?
