Really? Until today, the icon for this site was blue and gray, if I recall it correctly. Now I get a red W.

I think you've correctly identified the problem, b/c on my work computer at my lunch break now (as opposed to home PC last night), I am getting the icon of the red circle with a blue horizontal line thru it.
However, in case anyone finds this detail interesting, the substitute icon I was seeing is NOT the one you've pasted above (the MS Word icon) but, rather, looked like the red W of the Washington Nationals.
