Is my boyfriend considered homeless?
Posted by: Sobered girlfriend in Mclean ()
Date: October 18, 2011 11:29AM

My boyfriend is almost 40 years old and has spent the last six years living in his father's home and his friends' houses. He's currently living in my apartment just like he did with his old girlfriends. Someone told me I'm living with a homeless man. Is this true, does depending on your girlfriends for housing make you homeless?

According to the statistics, yes, anyone who is not on a lease or does not take up permanent residence is considered homeless.

Technically, he could be classified as a barnacle also. Does he like saltwater? Is it silly to ask if he has a job? Still in school?

Maybe we can think up some ways to find out if he is cheating on you.

According to Wikipedia,
Homelessness describes the condition of people without a regular dwelling. People who are homeless are unable or unwilling to acquire and maintain regular, safe, and adequate housing, or lack "fixed, regular, and adequate night-time residence."

So, if you broke up with him, or he with you, where would he go? Sounds like he IS homeless. While being a nomad makes for great cocktail party conversation, is this a conscious choice he is making? Get ready for the crowd to leap on this one: is he handsome, independently wealthy, hung like a race horse, or, simply, a bum also?

He just got a job as a bouncer at a strip club. The economy has been hard on him these past few years. He thought about going back to school though, he was only two classes away from a degree at GMU, but they said he's been out of school for so long, that his transcripts aren't any good for credit.

he United States Code contains the official federal definition of homeless. In Title 42, Chapter 119, Subchapter I, homeless is defined as:

ยง11302. General definition of homeless individual

(a) In general

For purposes of this chapter, the term "homeless" or "homeless individual or homeless person" includes-
an individual who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence;

I guess you could inturpet "fixed, regular" several different ways but I dont thing bouncing from house to house, couch to girls bed counts.

Hmmm. Well, you asked if he was homeless. It sure sounds like he is.
Me thinks there are zillions of people whom like to have a good time, and, there are zillions of people whom have been thru a lot. You need to narrow your dating pool a bit, IMHO.

Maybe he needs a helping hand right now. Are you ready to fill that role SGF in McLean? Ask him what his intentions are already. You seem to be fine talking with strangers here when the one person you should really communicating with is your BF.

No, you'd just be transferred to a Hooters down south where you'd "fit" in. Is your boyfriend's name Patrick by any chance?

Okay, would that be a Hooters? Ok, back up a sec. Your BF is now homeless. He just got a job at a strip club, where, I assume, girls will strip. He has also been thru alot and, loves to have a good time. Does this in any way raise a red flag in your mind? Or, to put it another way, if you ran an ad, offering free housing, and simply requested that any guys responding "like to have a good time?", can you imagine both the number of responses, and, the swath of humanity you could pick from?!? And would he be THE guy you would pick?

I did work at a Hooters a while back, now I work somewhere where the men don't treat me like a piece of meat. And I know he wouldn't cheat on me with a stripper, he knows his father wouldn't approve of him being with a stripper.

SO, OP is looking for someone who has residence, a job, lots of life experience and likes to party. BF is a bouncer so she is looking for someone with some brawn.

Sounds like I fit the bill PLUS I have a car, work regular hours and dont need permission from my daddy to date whom I please. Oh, I DO however, need premission from Mrs. Bass. Possibly if OP is the mythical Double JAP of my dreams, the wife would let me have her as the birthday present Ive always wanted.

OP, submit pic please.

I am not knocking his work ethic. I think it is great that he is working.
Okay, I am now coming at this with this angle: are you sobered as in, drying out? Or, was the news that your bf was "homeless" a shock and eye-opener to you? From his perspective, I bet he thinks you are an AWESOME girlfriend. He pays no rent, gets to bang you, and, then slaves away as a bouncer in a strip club. And he is a guy whom "likes to have a good time."
Can anyone on this site help me here?????
