You know what is funny. Commie liberals love Apple products like crazy, meanwhile Steve Jobs was one of the most ruthless capitalist since Rockefeller. Also Apple one of the biggest outsources of US jobs within the last 5 years.

"Also Apple one of the biggest outsources of US jobs within the last 5 years."

Just bought a new computer a couple of months ago, really wanted an Apple but the outsourcing thing just pisses me off,,,

They can definately afford to make their expensive ass computers in this country,,,they would rather have a sweat shop in china with a ridiculous suicide rate amoungst it's employees,,,

And spare me the fuckin lecture about their resposibities to their shareholders,,,

Oh yeah, fuck the iphone too!

Not true (not the sweat shop part, the suicide part).

The suicide rate of that sweat shop actually is lower than China's suicide rate; they just have so many employees AND The Media likes to pump up stories like this so much that it "appears" their suicide rate is high.

I love Steve Jobs. I don't buy any of his overhyped shitty electronics, but I love the fact that he makes so much money off of coffee shop liberals.

He's right up there with the guy who got paid a shit-ton of money for marketing Che Gueverra T-shirts to broody emo libtards.

I had a staffer who used to threaten to kill herself occasionally
but I always asked her not to do it on the job because I'd have
to fill out too much paperwork. I asked her to please go outside
and do it on the sidewalk so that way I only had one memo to write,
explaining that she simply failed to come back to work after her
lunch or a break. If she did it in the building I'd have to write
at least four or five. Less time consuming that way.

+1

Something about an Apple Store just makes me wanna go in and start swinging.

Good for Jobs tech and biz savvy though, and I am sorry for almost anyone suffering cancer.

Guys like Jobs don't go on 8 months medical leave and resign because everything is great. They are driven perfectionists who want to make sure it's done their way. He's leaving for a reason, and probably not a good one.

It wouldn't surprise me if he's dead in a few weeks. I don't think he would be resigning unless it was pretty close to the end and he wanted to ensure a smooth transition by personally handing off to his replacement.

So is this a good time to Buy/Sell Apple shares? I've been using his products for almost 5yrs and have been satisfied for the most part. The poor guy taking over for Jobs would always be measured up to him.

If you have Apple stock, I would sell. I think the stock is going to decline for a while until the new guy can prove the company can be successful without Jobs. It wasn't last time he left the company, so the new team will have a lot to prove.

I'd say that the market has already priced this in at this point, Dee. It's no surprise that his health has been on the decline, but with certain loose lipped insiders, I'd be really surprised if the larger institutional investors didn't know this for a while now. At least Apple is such a well-oiled machine with their brand recognition. I wouldn't expect much of a drop off while they are still the darlings of Wall Street.

Hope the company is still as innovative as when Jobs was at the helm. The new guy doesn't look much of a risk taker. He seems like someone who's comfortable with the way things are and wouldn't rock the boat. Heard there are alot of exciting products on the pipeline.

I don't know how you "price in" the unpredictable. If there is a repeat of the John Scully years, that certainly hasn't been priced into the stock. And the timing and the way it was announced is bound to spook the market a bit, even if an eventual change was anticipated.

I'm sure Sr. Management was aware of this during trading hours today and perhaps the days leading up. There's no way someone couldn't have leaked this to one or more of the larger funds that comprise their top-10 investor pool. If not them, then the GS's of the world. Plenty of time for hedged positions here. It could be innocuous anyway if Jobs timing was perhaps due to their elevated market position and being neck-and-neck with Exxon. I'd stay long here.

You need to ask yourself, is Apple really bigger than Exxon? Really?

No, Apple is at a historic high. Jobs isn't a CEO. He's a visionary. Apple will not replace that anytime soon.

So true. He's the "Hank Reardon" of current times.

At least Wozniak is still around, but he's a tech nerd and useless for running the company.

For domestics, there really isn't any other alternatives in an already shitty environment. I certainly wouldn't park it in the the old domestic safety nets of defense and aero. As much as agree with your position, there really isn't much in that sector that offers low OpEx, brand recognition and innovation. Unless they do something really stupid, it might as well be on autopilot for the next 10 years.

According to WSJ, most analysts are saying to stay the course / nothing to see here. No doubt that some smaller retail investors will pull out though. The bigger shareholders know better.

Jobs was a dictator! Cook will not be one.

The staff working under Jobs the slave driver for years will be more difficult to control.

Apple "superiority" was/is more a matter of perception than actual functionalally superior products.

Android is on the rises and some predictions say tablets are a fad and the laptop will be back in vouge.

My prediction for Jobs longevity? 90 days or less.
