Technically, he can make that argument, but what a dipshit.They "stimulate" the economy the same way a war does, you are paying yourself to work.

If they stimulate the economy so much, everyone should get food stamps, problems solved!

Knowing the demographic that tends to receive food stamps, it will stimulate grape soda (purple drank) manufactures and chicken farms.

Vilsack was bragging about how well the Dept. of Ag. has done in advertising the food stamp program to people that may not have known they qualified for them.

Several years ago the demand for assistance in the state of New York dropped so low they actually took ads out in the Post and NYT.

Helping people become dependent upon the Federal Government has been Job #1 for the Democrats for 40 years now. Every since LBJ's War on Poverty we have spent in excess of 7 trillion dollars on programs like food stamps and look what we have to show for it. More poverty! Of course the US has the richest and fattest poor people in the world with section 8 cribs, a/c and 2 flat screens if that's any consolation to you.
