I've been told that most of your gigs involve you having to pay the venue(out of your own pocket) for the rights to play there, is this true? Also, if this is true how do you manage to survive.

No, most venues are begging me to play and ones that cant pay feel very bad about it, but because of the bad economy they dont pay their musicians. They usually give me free food, and I make tips and sell records.

I think in real life Meade basically busks at venues that take pity on him and allow him to play.

Free food consists of plate scrappings and pot grease that you tell them your gonna give your dog, but when you get home you pig out on them!!
