You could always become a mail man and drive a mail truck around. They drive on the right.

I am sure you will take this wrong but isn't it dangerous enough having an oriental driving in the first place. Do we really need one with RHD and maybe even talking on a cell phone.
You never see a chinaman in a race car. And dont give me that BS about that slidding sideways crap they do in japan.

the maneuver you are talking about is "drifting." this was not invented in japan nor is it practiced. drifting is not a good idea and is bad for your car. traction beats drifting every time.

It is LEGAL to pay all that money to import the car.... but illegal to drive that type of car on US roads. I know....I wanted to bring back a car I purchased in the UK back to the USA with me, but I wouldn't be able to drive it.

RHD cars are legal in VA. A friend of mine bought an R33 Skyline a year ago. He's been stopped a few times for speeding and the police never said anything about his car being RHD. The only thing you have to do is have the imported car meet US Specs. The biggest thing is that it meets EPA standards.

Here's a link for how to import a Rover back when I was looking at getting a D90 here from the UK. Not worth the hassle for newer vehicles because of DOT hurdles (mostly NA spec safety issues) and getting it insured is difficult unless you go with a shady underwriter. -§

This is one of the searches on importang RHD, so sorry for bumping an old thread, but it's not old when it shows up on google, so deal with it.

It is legal if it has a left hand drive counterpart approved to by NHSTA, there is NO LAW against RHD, the law is on the safety standards.

Look here zipper! You cant even drive in the first place what makes you think you can drive on the right side? Next thing this far east starts driving on the left side of the road. Starts some asiandale trend. Your people are the reason why auto insurance is so high.

FWIW, you really DON'T want to drive a RHD drive car in a place (like the U.S.) where we drive on the right. The reason for that is because if you're on a 2-lane road and you're looking to use the oncoming lane to overtake the car in front of you? Well, that's unsafe because you can't see the traffic in the oncoming lane because your seat in a RHD is near the edge of the road instead of the middle of the road. RHD cars were designed to be driven on roads where you drive on the LEFT side of the road. LHD cars were designed to be driven on the RIGHT side of the road.

If you must drive a RHD drive car, please move to Japan or Great Britain.

Your other option, since you seem hell bent on importing a Skyline is to find a shop that can convert the car to LHD. Yes, yes, yes...I'm aware the car wasn't ever constructed that way from factory so technically the parts specific to a Skyline aren't available. But if there's one thing the slopes do well? Is the interchangeable part. I have no doubt there are other parts made by Nissan or an after-market firm for other LHD models that could be retro'd into a RHD Skyline. Check out the Skyline forums on the Interwebz...That car is so popular that I'm sure some ricing drifter has likely already done it and would be more than happy to share his knowledge.
