Obama is Responsible for the "Texas Miracle"
Date: August 13, 2011 01:33PM

Gov. Rick Perry is crowing about job creation in Texas, but the fact is jobs are being created in Texas under the same Federal policies that are supposedly killing jobs in other parts of the country. Federal taxes, regulations, health reform, etc, ALL apply to businesses operating in Texas, just like they do everywhere else. The only thing Perry might tout are special state tax incentives...incentives EVERY state offers.

So the truth is, Obama is responsible for the Texas Miracle.

Big fracking state. There are three large oil shale fields that were discovered in the last five years.

So Rick Perry is responsible for the oil shale being in his state?

Sure, if Obama gets to take the credit for having one state out of 50 succeed because of his policies.......then Perry should get credit for the oil shale.

Rick cretaed nothing more then minimum wage jobs. The state's unemployment rate is a shade less then the national avg and the states finances are a mess.

But he sure does look good!

I don't get this argument. Minimum wage jobs.

Is a minimun job somehow worse than "unemployed"?

I understand all about how it's hard to survive on minimum wage and all that.

But I also know that no CEO was ever given the job. They had to work their way UP the ladder.

The unemployed will take a minimum wage job...the unemployable wont settle for anything less than Donald Trump's job and life.

Very, very few CEOs "work their way up the ladder". Actually quite a few are handed the job only to pillage the company for themselves and their cohorts. I would bet none of the fortune 100 CEOs worked up from a minimum wage position.

Brian Dunn at Best Buy worked his way up from a sales associate in 1985. He doesn't appear to have a college degree, either.

Also, while John Chambers at Cisco may not have started at a minimum wage position at his company, he attended all public universities and probably worked minimum wage jobs somewhere along the way.

I agree that most top-tier CEOs probably come from affluent families and attended Ivy League schools, but many haven't.

My point is the same Obama policies Rick Perry rails against are also the same ones that have contributed to success in his state.

Perry is just another corporate douchebag pretending to care. While I don't like Obama at all, there's no way in hell I would vote for someone who thinks Texas succeeding from the rest of the United States is a good idea.

"Rick cretaed nothing more then minimum wage jobs"

Government cannot create any jobs other than government jobs. It is up to a private company to create real jobs. As long as Americans look down on low paying jobs there will always be a desire for illegal aliens to flock to this country. If I ran the unemployment office you would take any minimum wage job that is offerd or no benefits for you. You cant be too proud to take a low paying job but not too proud to take my tax dollars.

I have much more respect for the illegal aliens cutting grass, cleaning homes and bussing tables than I do some fat slob American who thinks themself above that kind of work.
