I would appreciate your views on the following two subjects: 1. Do you think survival shows are authentic, or staged. Bear Grylis, especially, seems like a foolhardy nut. 2. Which one Gryliss, Stroud or the Dual guys would you prefer to help you escape out of the Amazon jungle or the Sahara. Thanks.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure these guys know their shit about surviving in the wild. However, the shows are staged, safe, and padded. These guys aren't in any real danger.

The last one I saw Bear G. takes this chain, ties a knot in the end, and loops it over this concrete lip, maybe 120 ft above ground. It snags onto something, who know what, and he trusts that and swings out like Tarzan. What a load of bullshit, no one takes a chance like that.

I think being lost in the Amazon with Les or Bear would be better than being lost by yourself... Bear seems like he'd be a pain in the ass to be around, though... unless there was booze. Les, however, never seemed to have that "fight" in him. He always seemed like he was just waiting it out until the crew came to find him... I never got the sense of "if we don't do something quick, we're going to fucking die".. Overall, I think I'd prefer to be lost with Les...

Me too, Les takes out the hamonica and makes the best out of a situation sometimes. Bear is too "green beret" guy's always running and jumping around, Les is sensible he says things like "in a survival situation you can eat these maggots", Crazy Bear shows you that they are edible and grosses you out.

They are staged. Whether that is 50% staged or 90% is open to interpretation. Remember they get about 15 hours of video per day that needs to be whittled down to 42 mins or so.
