NFL Season is Back On! How Many Games will Skins Lose this Year?
Date: July 26, 2011 04:32PM

I say they end the season 4-12. What say you?

By the way, is anyone besides John Beck saying he's the starting QB? Because I don't think I'm hearing that from anyone else. I mean, if Kyle Orton becomes available, are the Shannies really going to start a guy with 500 passing yards in the NFL and really little if any familiarity with Shanny Jr's offense?

4-12 seems about right. 6-10 by the grace of God. With the total chaos that will be happening in the coming week, you KNOW Danny is going to throw money at some big name players which will turn out to be a total mistake. Quite a few teams will probably make the same bonehead moves, but the Skins don't have the ability to overcome shit like that.

The problem the Skins have is that every team in their division is pretty set with their offenses, personnel, etc. The Skins could easily lose all of their division games. They have four to six certifiable dogs on their schedule, but I'm not sure they can win more than four of those.

5-11, one blow out, 8 games are lost by a field goal and we keep thinking we're almost here believing the football will bounce in our favor next year.

I'm gonna say 8-8,,,

I think when free agency is over, the over-all talent and chemistry of the team will be improved,,,

Shanahan has said that Jeff Beck is the "proposed" starter at QB. He loves Beck and is completely sold on him.

I say give the guy a shot. He can't do worse than McNabb or any other available free agent on this years market. Skins fans need to prepare themselves for a tough year and hope to get a better draft QB next year.

This year should focus on getting the D up to par.

With the current team 11. If they can dump Haynesworth and pick up a decent starting QB via free agency 8 or 9.

Beck strikes me as another one of the ass-kissing uber religious types Snyder likes so much (see Brunell, Zorn and Gibbs).

Did I hear right that they gave Santana Moss three more years for $15 mil? I like Moss and all, but the guy isn't the player he used to be. Three years?

...Good thing the Skins have John Beck to fall back on.

So the Skins have signed Kellen Clemons and may sign Matt Leinart, which indicates to me that John Beck is NOT a shoe-in for the starting position, despite his claims. They also picked up Donte Stallworth at WR, which may not be a bad deal.

Still, it seems like the Skins are sifting through other people's trash. Much like they did last year. Did any of those guys pan out?

It's like shopping at yard sales and hoping that that you stumble upon some Picasso that someone is selling for 50 cents. Good luck with that.

Stokely was a great slot receiver, but he's old now. In Denver, Shanny Sr. used to bring in veterans who were unappreciated or overlooked by their teams. I'm not sure what his deal is now with bringing in slow, broken down and injury prone old guys.

Jesusfuckingchrist.

Its about the O-LINE! It doesn't matter for shit who's throwing or catching or running the ball.

bad o-line = bad offense
good o-line = good offense

These names being thrown around are just going to be the ones people point to when they're 2-6 half way through the season and wonder why they're terrible. But linemen aren't sexy and they don't generate message board activity and they don't sell tickets.

I haven't looked at the schedule yet, pointless during the lockout. But it will definitely be another sub-500 season. And another season I don't go to a home game.

NOW: much ado about signings, trades and free agents.

IN TWO MONTHS: more Boswell columns about turmoil at Redskins Park

BY DEC 15: 4-12 record, and much gnashing of teeth and rampant recriminations

OVERALL: a good time was had by all, except Redskins fans

BONUS PREDICTION: Chad Dukes will have 3 raging meltdowns over the air.

Hey whuddya know, an o-line addition. Bout time!
__________________________________________________________________________________
The Redskins lured another Raven from Baltimore and added offensive lineman, Chris Chester. He was originally drafted as a Center and moved to Guard. Redskins OL Coach Chris Foerster coached Chester briefly in Baltimore.

Age: 28, Height:6'3" , Weight: 315, 5-year contract $20 million

Here's a pro/con list of Chester's skills:

Pros: Although Chester is often considered a backup, he has started at least 11 games the past three seasons. In 2008, he started 11 games at right guard after Marshal Yanda sustained a season-ending knee injury. In 2009, Chester started the first nine games while Yanda recovered and started four more games at tight end.

Cons: Chester is athletic and has quick feet but he struggles against explosive linemen. It is believed that the team still envisions Chester in more of a backup role because he isn't strong enough at the point of attack. He was drafted to be a center

Apparently we have 14 wide receivers although the article only named 13 (not that it matters): Moss, Stallworth, Gaffney, Anthony Armstrong, Leonard Hankerson, Terrence Austin, Taurus Johnson, Brandon Banks, Malcolm Kelly, Niles Paul, Maurice Price, Roydell Williams and Aldrick Robinson.

Is it the return of the Old Ball Coaches Fun 'n Gun offense?

I guarantee you, under the Patriots, this fat fuck will be lighting up QBs left and right. And it will be further evidence of Danny Boy's failure as an owner.

I'm gonna resist the urge to bash Danny since he's letting the football guys take care of bidness like he said he would,,,

I like what they're doing this off-season,,,

Cleanin' house and movin on, adding some young key players and not a bunch of overpriced big names,,,

I'll give Shanny and Co. a B right now,,,if they pull another O-lineman and a QB, they'd get an A,,,

Don't think they're getting a starting QB though,,,

This.

The Patriots won't put up with his bullshit. Not Belichek, not Brady, not the Kraft family. But they have something to offer Haynesworth that the Redskins can't offer anyone...they can win and their organizational management fosters winning instead of clusterfuck drama.

I see the Patriots using him in special down situations and I do think Haynesworth will blow through O-Lines and blow up QBs and RBs this season. The problem with Haynesworth in DC wasn't really Shanny's treatment of him or the switch to the 3-4. It was Danny Boy throwing $100 mil at a guy who is physically incapable of being an every-down player.

Not to say that Haynesworth isn't a giant prick (that was established when he cleated a guy in the face). But a lot of the debacle in DC was due to Danny Boy, too.

Well, that probably goes without saying. I wouldn't be surprised if the guy has already blown through the $40 mil or whatever he made here.

Oh he’s physically capable, he showed it with the Titans. It’s just that he’s a selfish jerk and a lazy slob. Perhaps his big payday made him care less about being a good football player, but he was going to get paid anyway. It was reported at the time that another team was going to give him 120 million with less guaranteed (or something like that). The coach decides how much a guy plays, not the owner. But don’t let anything get in the way of your Danny bashing. Carry on. :)
