Va trooper killed in car crash had 3 other wrecks

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) - A Virginia State Police trooper who was killed last month in a traffic crash had three other auto accidents since joining the force in 2008.
Records obtained by the Free-Lance Star of Fredericksburg show that Trooper Adam Bowen was involved in three crashes over a nine-month period during 2008 and 2009. He graduated from the state police academy in July 2008.
The 28-year-old Bowen died June 24 when his cruiser was struck in an intersection while he was on his way to help a state police agent with the narcotics task force. Bowen's cruiser ricocheted into a traffic light pole and was cut in half, with the front section crashing into three cars in a shopping center parking lot. Questions surfaced concerning his speed at the time of the crash.
Sgt. Thomas Molnar said state police likely will not finish their investigation into the crash until later this month.
Bowen struck a deer in December 2008. Seven months later, he struck a trailer being pulled by a vehicle when he made a U-turn to pursue a suspect. In September 2009, Bowen he ran off the road and struck an embankment while responding to a call about a man with a gun
