Whats the furthest North you could live?
Posted by: latecomer ()
Date: July 03, 2011 03:44PM

Because I hate cold weather, I could never live anywhere north of the DC area. I do like to visit places such as Saratoga in the summer time. Its like fall weather though in the middle of August, but its nice.

D.C.. I can't handle the cold anymore even though i grew up in the Northeast. It's stressful to just walk out your front door.

NoVa is too far north for my taste so I'll be getting the fuck out as soon as possible. I was thinking about moving to Raleigh, NC. Sounds like a nice place and I bet it's a bit warmer there. Cheaper cost of living too...

Raleigh is just like NOVA. Northern transplants and a lot of sub divisions, and you have to drive everywhere. So why move there? If you want real South, go to Savannah or even Richmond.

My main motivations are weather and cost of living. I HATE cold weather.

Well, but dont be fooled. Because it can get pretty cold in the south in the winter time. The winters are shorter and less snow maybe, but I lived in South Carolina and it went down to 10 degrees. The only place to escape winter completely is Florida and thats not the South... Nova winters are a breeze compared to the Northeast.

Ha, ha. No, its really not. And only Northern Florida, but Florida IMO is what Maine is to New England. You've gone so far South, you're not in the South anymore. I know people from GA who think Florida is pure Yankee.

Florida culturally is not Southern, but technically it is the South- just as Northern Virginia is geographically the South, but not culturally anymore..

Now, Florida is different from the rest of the South because Florida is actually a tropical climate, whereas most of the Deep South (and including Virginia), is part of the Humid Subtropical climate (which actually extends as far north as Balitmore). So yeah, Florida is not really a "Southern " state in terms of people, but more its just on the southern tip of the USA.

Florida is the only state where the further north you go, the more southern it starts to feel.

The furthest north I could live is probably here. The winters in Nova are just right. We get some snow, but its not crazy. Could never live in the Northeast or great lakes region. Dont care for the Deep South. Love it here.

Alaska. I wouldn't want to live anywhere north of Fairbanks, though, simply because I don't want to live in the bush.

Texas is nice but, since they're not the South like we are here in Nova, they have just a slight accent. I think they sound almost Mexican. I think Paula Deen sounds completely normal!!! Besides... Kenny Rogers is a Texan, need I say more? lol!

I could never live there... They'd make a man out of me... and not in a way that involves sucking lots of dicks... so you can see why that would be an unfavorable place for me to live.

I'm a fag, y'all!

From Wikipedia:

"Virginia averages seven tornadoes annually, most F2 or lower on the Fujita scale."

"Tornado Alley covers the northern section of Texas. The state experiences the most tornadoes in the United States, an average of 139 a year."

Hmm, let's see here...

- Washington, DC gets 14.7 inches of yearly snow on average; Dallas, TX gets 2.5

- Washington, DC gets 8.1 snowy days per year on average; Dallas, TX gets 1.9

- Also note that the AVERAGE low temperature for Dallas, TX never falls below freezing; average lows for Washington, DC fall below freezing for the months of: January, February, and December.

- " Snow rarely falls south of San Antonio or on the coast except in rare circumstances."

Yeah, ON AVERAGE. Someone said that Virginia doesnt get tornadoes, and Texas doesnt get any snow. Im just correcting that. 14.2 a year? Thats nothing! Try moving to Upstate New York or Massachusettes and double that amount.

I never claimed that Virginia doesn't get any tornadoes or that Texas doesn't get any snow. It was a general statement. Don't put words in my mouth. However, Texas gets WAY more tornadoes than Virginia and gets less snow on average. You can't deny that. New York and Massachusetts are irrelevant; I was comparing NoVa and Texas. AND it's 14.7 per year (learn to read).

Bwahaha. If you move South, that feeling wont change. You do realize the South has the largest black population in the country, right?

If you say so haha. I've flown to Orlando, Florida before and that's just about my only experience south of Virginia. Apparently Florida isn't really "south" though?
