I was never a big fan of The Who, but they really did some good music. I love when this song comes up on shuffle.

Even though The Who's later albums weren't considered their best, they still had some great songs. I still love this one...

That video is great. I miss when rock musicians dared to try something great. Now it's whores who can barely sing being autotuned to shit sampled from stuff done by Fab Five Freddy in the 80s. Music has gone to shit.

+1 on Emminence Front. One of my favorite Who songs and a kickass Ox bassline. My Generation's a good one, too. +1 on Gimme Shelter, too. I think Martin Scorcese puts that in every one of his movies.

Here's one I never get sick of and I think it's cost me some hearing damage over the years:

I love Hendrix, but I do get tired of hearing the same songs on the radio all the time. I do love his blues version of Voodoo Child, though, which you never hear on the radio.

I've heard that most artists today use auto-tune in the studio just to smooth out their voice for the record; a sort of icing on the cake. The thing with auto-tune is, it only triggers the robot-like effect when your voice drifts off key. If you're a good enough singer, the effect is pretty subtle. The artists I have a problem with are the ones that have no singing chops to begin with and use auto-tune as a crutch.

The whole concept of auto tune is bullshit

Lets just listen to robots sing,,,

Real art doesn't include bullshit like auto tune

Fuck all these studio creations,,,they have the shelf life of a shit-fly

In other words, they can't be bothered with learning to sing right. I like technology when used to be innovative, but not as a crutch for posers.

In Japan now they have a full-blown fake computer generated pop singer, Eguchi Aimi. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aimi_Eguchi

Music for people with no souls, made by people with no souls. Resistance is futile.

Using auto-tune simply to touch up your studio voice and using it as a crutch for lack of a good voice to begin with are two very different things.

Not all Dream Theater songs are that "ballady". Many of them are pretty heavy. Don't get all elitist with your "I only listen to the classics" bullshit.

Realistically, there's no such thing as being better live than in the studio. The studio is a controlled environment, specifically engineered to bring the best out of your voice. The best you can hope for live is to be on par with your studio recording.

NOT TRUE,,,I've seen many bands whose live sound was better,,,

The Reverend Horton Heat is sooooo much better live it's not funny,,,

The venue and it's sound can help or hurt

930 club has a great sound,,,Capital Centre was not so good

Here's a block from the Sex Pistols,,,they never get enough credit for their impact on ROCK N ROLL,,,not just punk

They only put out 1 record,,,and are still legends to this day,,,who else can you say that about?

Well, I'm going to be a dork here and mention some jazz tunes I never get sick of, Take Five by pianist Dave Brubeck's Quartet for starters. He still plays this at every show even though he's 90 now; I saw him at Blues Alley last year with his current lineup and it was awesome. This song was done best with his "classic" lineup of Paul Desmond on sax, Joe Morello on drums, and Eugene Wright on bass. Desmonf died in the 70s and Morello died just a few weeks ago. But the recordings are nice and clean.

I can't help but whack off to this everytime I watch it. You know I never notice before. She really ain't much of a dancer. Certainly no Shakira. But that little munchkin twist she has in her voice gets me everytime.

this is one of Lee Perry's best productions. Junior disappears halfway through the song. Reggae is the most important musical movement of the 20th century.
