The following arrest information was supplied by the Vienna Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

June 13, 2011

Highlights from the Vienna Police Department from June 3 to June 9.

A Dominion Power worker reported that sometime between May 28 and June 6, several locks were cut at a substation at Center Street and John Marshall Drive N.W. The worker said they believed the group hopped the fence, entered substation and stole electrical supplies. Police are investigating the case.
A resident on Ware Street noticed a man enter his neighbor's backyard in the morning of June 3 and approach a shed. The resident talked to the man, who said he had permission to be on the property. The resident called the daughter of his neighbor, who was taking care of the property, because the homeowner was not living in the house. The daughter said she knew nothing of someone having permission to be on the land. The same man returned to the yard later with two other people, took a riding lawn tractor from the neighbor's shed, and left after loading it into a vehicle. The resident called Police to report a grand larceny. The car was stopped at Virginia Center Boulevard and Sutton Road and released. Later in the day, the daughter learned from her father that he had authorized the men to take the tractor.

A resident near Nanterry Circle S.W. found an elderly neighbor dead on the front porch of his home around 5:53 p.m. June 3. Police say there appear to be no signs of foul play. Police Detectives are following up on the case.

A resident on Kingsley Road told Police that a father and his adult daughter were having an altercation around 2:45 p.m. June 4. Police arrived and discovered that the father and daughter were riding in a car when the father became irritated and punched the daughter twice in the head. The daughter tried to call 9-1-1 but the father took the phone and a struggle ensued. Police arrested the father for domestic assault. The father was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Police responded to a call for a missing 8-year-old boy, who had been separated from his mother during the Tour De Cure Event June 5 near the intersection of Dominion Road and Ayrhill Avenue. Fairfax County Helicopter Units responded to help search for the boy. The boy was found and reunited with his mom.

A resident of Valley Drive S.E. called Police around noon June 6 to report that a caller tried to get the resident to help them cash a certified cash. When the resident declined, thinking it was a scam, the caller became verbally abusive and threatened the resident.

A citizen on Lewis Street found an abandoned bike in her yard around 7:30 a.m. June 7. Police took the bike and put it in storage until its owner came to retrieve it.

A person painting at The Soundry between 11:30 and 11:45 p.m. June 7 discovered his laptop was missing. Police are investigating the case.

Police stopped a vehicle at 11:31 p.m. June 7 at Windover Avenue and James Madison Drive, after they noticed debris flying from the car. When Police stopped the car, a female female passenger began screaming and running toward police. The driver then got out of the car and told Police the woman bit him. After an investigation, Police determined the couple was arguing inside the car when the driver hit the passenger, to which she threw a can of alcohol at him. When the driver hit the passenger again, she bit him. Police also discovered the incident took place in Fairfax City, and called City Police to investigate.
Unlicensed solicitors were given a warning around 1:21 p.m. June 8 on Glyndon Street S.E., after a resident reported the group of treeworkers. Police gave the group a verbal warning about obtaining a license.

A resident on Patrick Street S.E. reported on June 8 that a vehicle was abandoned in his neighborhood. Vienna's Traffic Squad is following up on the complaint.
A caller reported a woman panhandling outside the Maple Avenue CVS around 1:11 p.m. June 9. After talking to the woman, Police found she was a California resident visiting relatives in the area. The family came to pick her up.
