IKEA

I need to get some furnishings to tide me over until I can get something of better quality. Does anyone have any experience with IKEA curtains and mirrors?

Oh, I found this video on YouTube. Ha.

IKEA is okay quality.

Go when it is extremely packed and the checkout employees are overwhelmed. You won;t believe the stuff that you can "overlook" when you go through the self-checkout lines.

Ikea is good on some and average on others. If you like modern and streamlined, you will like Ikea.

IKEA is great if you plan on throwing it away in 5 years. Does not last. Mostly particle board crap.

As More Complete said: IKEA is good for crap particle board furniture that you'll change out in 4-6 years. Children's bedroom furniture comes to mind. Some of it's pretty cute, but it's essentially disposable. For one of my daughter's bed frames, I kneeled on it to get some leverage and ended up cracking one of the longer frame boards - the thing was a week old. Thankfully, I could fix it with some Gorilla glue and some brackets.

I've had curtains and mirrors from there. The mirrors? Kind of hard to explain. Seems as if the mirror is some other sort of product than mirrors we're use to. You'll notice, when you go to windex it. The curtains? Just like everyone else said ... they'll look nice for awhile, a few years, but not something that will last for years.
I do have a bedroom set from there that has lasted quite nicely, however. The thing that has actually shocked me ... the queen mattress I have (purchased one of the higher priced ones), has been the best mattress I've ever owned.

I went there this morning. I got some curtains (I didn't get a rod because I didn't like the way any of them looked), a 4-pack of small mirrors (the reflection looks kinda funky though--sorta like mirrors in toy makeup kits--so I might not put them up, and a desktop and four legs. This stuff should do until I can get the real deal.

A couple of the kitchen setups looked really nice, but I don't think I trust the quality enough to put it in my kitchen.

Oh, and we must be ready for a full moon, because people are driving more erratic than usual. Beware!!!

IKEA is from Sweden and their eatery sells Swedish food.

A friend once told me that a full moon doesn't make the crazies come out, they're always there but the light of the full moon makes them easier to spot.

Yeah, after having spent tons of dough on mattress/boxspring sets over the years, to have them sink in the middle (and I'm not a big person) I was quite frustrated and didn't want to spend more just to have the same thing happen again. I thought, "WTH, I'll give it a try (mattress from Ikea), if it sucks, well at least I didn't spend a ton on money". To my shock, I think ... it's been 5 years that I've had the mattress, it's still like new. Very pleased with that purchase.

What's up with not being able to flip mattresses over these days?

New mattresses aren't "allowed" to have handles... Some federal law... BULLSHIT!

They just want to cut our mattress life in half...

I guess the Fed's need to go knock on Ikea's doors then ... mine has handles on the sides, easy to flip.
