Moscow is one of the most expensive places in the world.

Prices in Moscow, if you were to go to quality clubs, restaurants, etc, are on the level of NYC, some are much more expensive.

You flying Aeroflot? Also, do you speak the language?

Where exactly? Budget $300/day for Moscow, $200 for St.Petersburg, much cheaper elsewhere especially if you speak/understand Russian.

to Gravis: I got some very distant family that I am in hopes of finding , its been over 15 years that I have seen them and would like to find them. I know that some of them are in SouthEastern part of Russia. I would like to go for 2 weeks and see what I can accomplish, I will budget about $500 a day(including hotel, travel within the country ect ect) for the trip. I have been to Russia before but its been ages and I was a kid back then, not even a teenager.....

I think Russia is beautiful and changed drastically over the years. I think that people are mislead on what Russia trully has to offer. Yes it sucks during the winter, I believe its about 33 degrees there right now but its just like here the rest of the season, I am not planning on going there until march anyways, maybe April. I am going to book a ticket soon and $700 for a two way flight is not bad at all. I am going from here to England and stopping there for three days and on the way back I am stopping in Germany for four days. In reality I will be gone for 3 weeks maybe longer. Being in the Marine Corps I was stationed in Moscow's Embassy for a while and felt very privileged to learn the language.

Kiev, (not that the screen name would give it away) but I am assuming you have some ties in Russia, aint no one elso in Fairfax County going to mention eating pelmeni and surviving on $100 budget....lol.you know what I am talking about

there is a major University right in the middle of the city and supposedly it's in high demand. I know people from surrounding eastern European cuntries go there but I am not sure about any Americans traveling that far into Russia. Its really easy to stand out if you are a foreighner. We had our own military police cars and local police escort on call but I am sure it will be different traveling on my own.
