So if you're concerned about malaria, you can always drink tonic water for the medicinal effects of the quinine.

Problem is, it tastes awful, truly awful.

So why not mix in a bit of fresh lime juice? Not only does it make it taste better, but adds some vitamin C to the mix, defending against scurvy.

Problem is, it still tastes lousy. There's only one thing that can make this nutritious medicinal drink truly palatable...

Gin, wonderful luxurious gin. Blended together, the gin, tonic, and lime create a symphony in your mouth that would make Beethoven choose a different career.

Keep the mosquito borne illnesses at bay, drink a Gin and Tonic today!

I love tonic water.

in fact, when i was pregnant with one of my kids i craved it.

I don't know why ..i just did.

I still love it. I drink a lot of diet tonic water.

No, I'm calling bullshit on you having been pregnant....as you are a male and men can't get pregnant.

Abstract

We present four recent cases in which quinine was used for self-induced abortion. Abortion was achieved in only one of these cases. Literature review suggests that quinine is an ineffective abortifacient, even when taken in toxic doses. Adverse effects of quinine include cinchonism, potentially fatal renal failure, and possible teratogenesis. Quinine is available over-the-counter, but it has few legitimate medical indications. Health care personnel treating women with undesired pregnancies should be alert to the signs and symptoms of quinine toxicity.
