Right, "Lonely are the Brave" put some tears in me eyes. In fact, any movie that a beloved animal is killed in the end "Old Yella" is another and the "Red Pony", "the Yearling"

I never understood the need to go to a movie that you know is going to make you sad- a laugh, a scare, a thrill all make sense but I think it's masochistic to go to a movie knowing you'll tear up.

The few times in my adult life that I felt a little weepy were-

"It's a Beautiful Life" about an Italian Jew who is thrown in a concentration camp in WW2 with his very young son but keeps the kid distracted for the horror with comedy and humor.

SPOLIER ALERT
(Near the end, the father is marched off to a firing squad but keeps a smile on his face waiving to his son and joking as the kid is completely oblivious.)

"The Mask" when the terminally doomed and deformed Rocky Dennis realizes his buddy is going to bail on him on their dream of biking across Europe. the kid realizes the shortness of his life and the world of things he'll probably never see. Downer.

EDIT-Spoiler ALert

The Green Mile choked me up a bit at the end.

No Country for Old Men made me sad because I expended a lot of emotional capital on Llewelyn Moss.

You "expended a lot of emotional capital on Llewelyn Moss"??

Why do you men speak in business terms like that when you're

talking about human emotions and connections?

OK -- maybe too Washingtonian-esque, but it was just a freakin' movie. How's this: I was caught up in the film, felt sympathy for Llewelyn Moss, and was disappointed the Mexican drug traffickers shot him. There was no happy ending, and his efforts at survival were futile and feckless.

My emotions, and my biz; and that's the way I express myself.

I bet if they never got rescued he would have been the one who became the bottom of the pecking order, the beta male, and the surrogate female sex slave of the others, every Saturday night.

the little boy and girl's mother is dying, Harry. They got into a catbus to go see her at the hospitalo. It took the magical fantasy world of a large cat creature living in a camphor tree to help these children come to terms with the terminal illness of their mother. It's a great movie-o.
