Knut Snuff Film

Poor Knut. They say it might have been brain damage. Looks like a stroke...

Yeah, thought the same thing warhawk.

Not sure if the circling thing had anything to do with it though. I thought I read something a long time ago that stated that that sort of nervous behavior has been observed in lots of confined zoo animals.

Plus, wasn't Knut inbred? If so, he may have had the genetic cards stacked against him from day one.

Yeah. I don't like seeing animals suffer. Makes you wonder what was going on behind the scenes for a four-year-old bear to have a stroke. Sounds like abuse. We'll see.

Looks like a stroke (or maybe painful heartattack) to me - he's circling biting at something with one leg (at least) not working right - then he simply has that last seizure.

Knut and his unnamed brother were born on 5 December 2006. Tosca rejected her cubs for unknown reasons, abandoning them on a rock in the polar bear enclosure. Animals know when their offspring are genetic losers and let them die in dignity.. Should have listened to the mother in the first place.

I have heard that animals like dogs and stuff do that walk around in a circle thing before they have a seizure. It might have been a stroke, or it might have been he was just prone to seizures and had one and fell in the water and drowned before he had a chance to come back from the seizure. Either way he's dead and neither is less horrible to see than the other.

I'd bet he ended up having a seizure that led to him falling into the water. Because he was seizing, he couldn't swim and ended up drowning.

It's really wild if it was a heart issue, because the guy who raised him died of a heart attack two years ago.

CLEARLY, the actual cause of death was drowning. The reason for him falling in will have to be determined but I am betting on stroke of as mentioned above, seizure. Facts of life, folks...live and die.

May not be natural selection (e.g., killing because of perceived deformities or abnormalities). Male cats and many other animals will kill if they sense that the offspring is not theirs.
