legal to let air out of sum1's tire?

question for law enforcement officers or knowledgeable citizens, is it legal to not damage the tire at all, just let all the air from the stem?

NO. That is vehicle tampering.

If I witnessed someone doing this or had good video of the crime I would charge them with attempted murder. Of course if noone was hurt any good lawyer would get it reduced to some sort of property crime like vandelism. Some judges might give jail time depending on defendants past record.

Easy to see why you retired...
Who the hell would die by having the air let out of their tire? They'd notice as soon as they tried to go over 5mph. It's not like you cut their brakes.

Just head to Home Depot and buy a trusty side-cutter. Walk up to the vehicle and cut that valve stem in half. 15 seconds, tops. You don't want to hang around for over a minute pushing on the valve stem letting the air out. Too much of a chance of getting caught.

If you're going to mess with someone's tires, it's dumb, and dangerous. If someone really pissed you off, think of a more creative prank that won't possibly endanger their lives or permanently damage their property (If they drive on a tire like that, they could really mess up their rims/wheels as well). Again, get creative!

Oh, and I hope you're not doing this for stupid reasons either. I'd only mess with someone if they already messed with my property, or they did something really screwed up to a friend or family member.

I would shy away from the stem cutter idea, the fix involves having to take the tire off the rim and replace the stem. There is another tool that you can use that removes the pin in the center of the stem, takes about 15 seconds to unscrew it and then about a minute for the tire to deflate.

I used to keep one of these in my truck and never used it until one day in DC. I was waiting for a metered spot right behind my building on Capitol Hill and there was a guy that had just started his car and was getting ready to pull out. I was probably three car lengths away from the spot with my turn signal on, this was not parallel parking but back in parking, and as the guy pulled out going down the street towards me some lady pulled in coming from the other way. I pulled up and told her I was waiting and that she stole my spot. Her response was that she was parked and what was I going to do about it. I promptly ate the $20 to park in the garage across the street and grabbed my pin remover from my armrest. I stopped at her car on my way into the building and removed the pins out of both back tires. I then went into work and waited about an hour, when I went back out she was standing next to her car with two flat tires telling whoever was on the phone that she didn't understand how she got two flat tires and that she only had one spare, I thought ahead and wanted to inconvenience her as much as possible, no one carry's two spares. I walked by and chuckled to myself at her misfortune, it took her about two more hours before someone came with another spare and she got out of there. I feel a two to three hour inconvenience was a just payback for stealing my spot. This reminds me I need to stop at Advance Auto and get another stem remover, no idea what happened to that one after I used it.

When I was younger my old boss used to constantly hit on my girlfriend and repeatedly attempted to sleep with her even though it was obvious we were dating. Once he found out we were dating he tried to demote me as I was working security and pretty much had the whole place on tape. I told him to go fuck himself and quit instead. I picked up valve stem remover from advanced auto, it costs a dollar and looks like a small screw driver. Basically I unscrewed the valves and all the air was out in under a minute and then I screwed them back on so there is no damage and it looks like the vehicle hasnt been tampered with. I enjoyed hearing stories about him being pissed off and having to call a tow. I went for all 4 tires and so should you. That was the best dollar I ever spent.

It's call rock'n a tire. I do it all the time. All you need is a small pebble, Place it in the valve stem cap and screw down untill you hear air leaking. The last time I preformed this was last week, when this ass clown parked in the handicapped space next to me and ran into the CVS. After rock'n him I went in to get a look at this punk. He was buying granola bars and spring water. Not sure where he went flat but .....who cares.

I call bullshit on the original poster. If youre scared enough to worry about the legal ramifications of letting air out of someone's tire you're too much of a pussy to go through with it anyways. If you're gonna worry about anything you should be worrying about getting your ass kicked if caught. But if the remote possibility of a misdemeanor is going to deter you then youre a fucking coward.

Not all handicaps are physical that warrant those permits. It could be absolutely anything. If you really wanted to, you could ask him directly if that placard is for him and confront the situation and he would either be in the wrong or pull out a Disability card and tell you to go fuck yourself.

I'm a disabled US Veteran and served my time in the US Marines. I get out and walk in a store just fine and have a permit and I can actually run VERY briefly in short spurts, but I certainly can't walk/stand for extended periods of time. I have a citizen once "tell" me I was not disabled and I shouldn't be parking there. I told them that I was in fact disabled and declared by Veteran's Administration and provided a placard by my physician based on my injury serving this country and that they can go fuck themselves and mind their own business. I suggest you do the same.

I don't have time to sit and waste here reading all of the comments, but this was the DUMBEST topic thread title i've ever seen. Were you serious?? Is eating a bag of chips in the store and not paying for them illegal because you didn't bring them out of the store? Youth of today are starting to make me think that the outlook for the future is bleak, and we should all start to repent.

why resort to a pussy tactic like letting air out of someone's tires? That's weak. If you've got a problem with someone, why not man up and confront them face to face?

If you tamper with the air in some person's auto you can prevent them from having control of their auto in the event of an accident. You could be held responsible / liable if you contributed to the auto accident in this manner.

Because confronting someone is scary and could result in a beating if the other person is angry enough.

Better to do something sneaky and underhanded behind their back and enjoy the satisfaction of having gotten your revenge without getting into a shouting match or earning an ass-kicking.

Somebody is tampering with the tires on my auto. I have had to adjust the air to the correct amount of air about 3 times in the last 2 weeks. The left rear tire reads about 40 and the right rear tire reads about 20 lbs of air. The car weaves and I know that the air is not properly balanced. I thought I was reading it wrong, so I asked a stranger to read the air pressure in the left rear tire, and he said, straight up its on 40, exactly. So what do I do... Who would do such a pussy act, and endanger me and my family???

Someone...neighbor psycho let 'some' of the air out of both my rear tires. I found out when I was driving at 65 miles per hours and the stearing was really off. It is attempted murder. If I did not know that tire pressure is what caused such an issue I may not have stopped as soon as I did to check the tires. No damage both down significantly, put air in and they have been fine...Maybe he should be working instead of retired...

Ahmed I hate to be the one to have to break the news to you but your old boss not only fucked your girl on a regular basis but they always did ATM and she would come home to you and kiss you on your mouth. Thats why her breath always smelled like shit. He would also pump huge loads into her and she would feed them to you when you gave her head. This is what they were thinking about when they discovered that you had let the air out of his tires on their way to the No-Tel Motel.

Just a hypothetical question: When your home's motion detection system catches a coward in your driveway letting the air out of your tires, is it legal to attack the coward, drag the coward into your basement, and torture the coward until they beg to be killed?

Like I said, just a question. ;)

If you have a friend with a car or a second car park it near the target car and put a security camera in it. Might have to get an extra battery to power it but they record day and night. You might be able to put the camera in the target car and record the person but you wouldnt see them at tire level.

Maybe there are tamper-proof valve stem covers?

oh i'm glad you mentioned those. today's tire sensors are made with cheap brittle thin aluminum stems

you buy "high quality decorative covers" because your car manual says covers are important -

they rust to the stem and break the $200 tire sensor when you try to remove

just saying... there's more than one way today's car makers f'u over

it's all the "new surprises" like an $800 bill to repair headlights, $800 to replace a "no flat" tire that is flat

and a car computer that calls the cops if you speed

(if foreigners democrats even LET a whitey get a license, that is, they "have their ways")

the "surprises" are a joy to foreigners working for the gov in the USA who use USA gov money and pass the bill onto others, much to the chagrin of the foreign companies who are "moving their products" in fairfax county va, EXACTLY this way

meanwhile - foreigner run DMV (dept motor vehicle)

has a new onslaught of laws to SEIZE YOUR CAR

while the foreigner gov workers are happily upping the ante, they are also seizing and selling of other people's cars for cash - using corrupt courts and democrat run "computers", and a host of lies and cover-ups, to do it
