Bobby Poe Dies - 1/24 - From the DCRTV 1/24 Mailbag: "Bobby Poe Sr. died yesterday in Oklahoma. 77-years-old. Based in DC for years. Had the best music industry 'conventions' ever. The last 15 or so were in Washington, at the Tyson's Corner Sheraton. Son still lives in the DC area." More as we hear it.....
Remember the Kemp Mill Records that would run around 2nd or 3rd week on June each year? "Kemp Mill Records welcomes all the music business heavyweights in town for the Bobby Poe Convention".
Ahh the convention.... Moody Blues singing around a piano at three in the morning. En Vogue performing in a meeting room for 30 people. Crowded House playing poolside. David Cassidy getting the girls so hot we all got lucky. John Cougar Mellencamp and his drunken escapades. The list goes on and on.
Oh and some business got done also.

I remember at one of these conventions, Bobby Poe got up on stage and drank an entire can of lighter fluid without gagging or getting sick. He was the man!

Remember at the Bobby Poe convention Bruce Hornsby showing up three hours late for his concert? Don Geronimo turning on porn on the TV in Arista Records' suite? Jane from the Go Gos at the hangover lunch BBQ Saturday morning (could those shorts be any shorter?). What about all the antics of Eddie Money? Those were the days.

Fun - Yes I remember some of those D&M stunts were awesome. Albie Dee was also known t have a good time.
