This ever happen to you
Posted by: perplexed, ()

On/about 3:00am, I experienced an odd sensation. I was in a state of sleep, when all of a sudden everything appeared to turn brilliantly white. It was not just white but what I would descripe as a almost perfect white, in other words there was no shadow or other shades involved. It was what also appeared to be having no dimension, I'd compare it to closing your eyes and seeing white instead of the darkness that would normally be present. I then quickly woke up and everything was fine. Also no drugs and alcoholic beverages were consummed prior to my going to sleep. Any theories?

You were abducted by aliens. When they stick the probe in your ass everything turns white for a moment.

Did you have any bruises on your head when you woke up?

could be a form of sleep paralysis. did you hear any odd noises before or during the white out? here is some more information on sleep paralysis. although i have never experienced a white out like you describe, i have experienced a strange grinding sound in the back of my head while i was half awake half asleep. i opened my eyes, and saw a beautiful display of colors and patterns on the ceiling. the patterns would constantly shift and the color would change rapidly. i was impressed with the awesomness of it all but sort of frightened because i didnt know what was going on. anywhos hope the link helps.

Response to Bloody B.

Could be, however, there was no fear or any type of emotional
responce to it. I mean it was odd. It was like a wave action sweeping across your eyes composed of a white light, not beautiful, but a dull composition. Whatever, thanks for your responce.

While this has never happened to me, 3 other common phenomena have:

1) Occasionally I'll be able to fly (yes, like Superman) in a dream - not real often, but it does happen. Another friend has reported that this has happened -in a book he wrote. (nickname: SUPERMAN FLYING DREAMS)

2) Occasionally, I'll be aware that I'm dreaming WHILE I'm dreaming -some call it a waking dream -or a vision. (That's also VERY uncommon, but it does happen on rare occasion to me,) -- nickname: VISIONS or WAKING DREAMS or even "LUCID DREAMS"

Lucid Dreams - Wiki link

3) This hasn't happened in a looong time, but I've been semi-conscious that I was in a trance state, and tried to get up -but was paralyzed -in all my body except my ability to breath. (Nickname: DREAM PARALYSIS)

Sleep paralisis - wiki link

This was quite scary.

Since I have religious beliefs, I would add that I was calling upon my God in instance #3 above, sleep paralysis, and in instance #2 above, I realised that I was dealing with spirits, and, using my religious beliefs, I used a "Bible" test for the spirits in the visions, with 1st John 4:1-3, an epistle in the Christian Bible, whereby, I ask the alliegance of the spirits involved.

This test supposedly works only on spirits (e.g., angels and demons), as people are not sensitive enough to be compelled to give a straight answer -i.r., a person can lie, even if not with a straight face.

FWIW -- In my "testing the spirits" op-ed, I analyze the 7 ways to test the spirits of prophecies/prophets:

http://gordonwatts.com/theology/TestForProphetsAndSpirits.html
or:
http://gordonwaynewatts.com/theology/TestForProphetsAndSpirits.html

Regarding your experience, I would say there's almost a 100% chance that you encountered either a holy angel of God, a fallen angel (demon), or the Holy Spirit of God. (FWIW, I think "UFO's" are actually fallen angels in reality.)

LOL I've experienced sleep paralysis before, last time was many years ago. I took a nap in the afternoon and I woke up and couldn't move a single muscle, couldn't even open my eyelids for a few seconds. It was really scary. I heard a booming voice which I though was God or something. Then suddenly I snapped out of it and was able to sit up.

I read about it later and it turns out that this is common, including the auditory halucination. Basically when you are dreaming your body paralyzes itself to keeo you from thrashing around in your sleep, and sometimes you can wake up before it wears off. Basically you're still dreaming while waking up.

Either that or I'm just psychotic. I won't tell you what the voice told me to do or who to do it to...

Yeah, that's right - I was going to mention but forgot to:

The body's self-defense mechanisms paralyze your body when you're sleeping: If it didn't, then when you were dreaming, you'd move around while asleep and hurt yourself.

However, sometimes this biophysiological mechanism doesn't work 100% well -and examples are seen when a cat or dog (or human!) is sleeping and yet twitches around --and, in EXTREME instances, they sleepwalk.

Evolutionists would say we "evolved" this mechanism, and creationists (as myself) would say God is one smart cookie --and since we can not yet create a dinosaur, I'd say it sure couldn't have evolved, thus I believe in some God.

I considered that, but considering I'm not what you call a spiritual man I dismissed it. Still there was something, I would say my eye lid was slightly ajar a a waveof light (any light) hitting my eye would be magnified in frequency, but this does not hold up to any reasoning I've used and it presents the question: What light? It is somewhat begging the question, I think.

I'm not certain if it's what you experienced, but sleep paralysis can be scary.

Maybe you were gang raped in your bedroom by a bunch of migrant workers and it was so traumatic that your mind replaced the memory of the rape with this white noise.
