Playoff Football
Date: January 15, 2011 10:30PM

Holy crap! What happened to the Falcons!! I was watching them play in the 2nd quarter and they were tied with Green Bay. I just tuned in near the end of the 3rd Quarter and Green Bay has 42 fucking points???

Packers are legit. Atlanta has a pretty weak defense. Kolb schooled them earlier this year in Atlanta.

Anyone see the Steelers-Ravens game? FUCK... How could they rape the Steelers in the first half and then play like complete shit in the second half. Joe Flacco deserves kick to the nuts for every turnover in the game

Against Da Bears? I don't think so. If the Pack can shutdown the run, Jay Cluster-Fuck will throw the game away for them.

Really? What about Boldin for dropping that touchdown pass? Or the secondary for giving up a deep pass on 3 and 19?

No. The problem is the Steelers adjusted at the half and the Ravens couldn't get back into a groove on either side of the ball.

As a Bears fan, I'm not pleased about what I saw from the Pack yesterday. They're hitting on all cylinders right now. Not a team that you want to face if you can help it.

You can use the Internet to access NFL.com. There you can find links to the games and can see all the plays run. Using this resource, you can answer questions such as what happened during a game to run up a score.

Thanks. I saw some of the highlights this morning. The Falcon's defense completely collapsed.

I have to say that since none of the teams I follow are moving forward, I'm going to have to go with the Packers or Seahawks if they make it to the Super Bowl.

- Don't care for Da Bears (I really dislike Jay Cutler, if you couldn't tell, though I do think Lovie Smith has done a lot with a team that has been pretty much unmanageable for most of the Super Bowl Era).

- Patriots? Steelers? Who the fuck cares if they win another Super Bowl? They've become the Yankees of the NFL.

- The Jets? You know, if it weren't for that trash-talking, porn-making, big-mouthed fatass Rex Ryan, I could probably back the Jets if they went against Da Bears. But since that douchebag is coaching the team, I'll have to forget that shit.

WTL The reason the pats lost is because sarah palin proclaims herself a patriot, and when something goes wrong the left controlled/owned media blames her. So damn you sarah palin for making the patriots lose.

I hate the Jets and Steelers sooo things didn't really play out for me this weekend. Guess I'll wait till next season and see if Dan Snyder gets hit by a bus *crosses fingers*

In the mean time... GO PACKERS/BEARS!!! Either one would be better than Rapistburger or Dirty Sanchez getting their hands on a superbowl ring

I have to say, I was impressed. Especially by Sanchez (who I never thought very highly of as a QB).

That said, the Patriots just didn't show up, either. They seemed way too passive on both sides of the ball. Brady seemed out of tune with his receivers and the defense seemed to be standing still. I mean, they had to score two scores in the last 10 minutes and took 7+ minutes to run a non-scoring drive? And the decision not to go for the field goal at the end of that drive was mind-boggling.

With the way the Pats played this season and with all of the trash talk that happened in the past week, you have to start to wonder if the Patriots aren't hitting the same wall the Colts have.

I've never thought the extra week off between games helped anyone. Some teams lose their rhythm and seem rusty when they finally do play. The Falcons had the same problem. Better to just keep playing each week.

Don't generalize on this one. It definitely depends on the team. For New England and Atlanta, maybe you're right. For Pittsburgh, though, it was definitely a good thing. They had multiple key players with injuries who really needed the extra time to heal up some.

Seriously? You're bringing up that shit in a thread named playoff football? The only way the Redksins will ever see another playoff game is to change the owner.

Let's not forget--the Eagles trounced the Redksins and Detroit embarassed the fuck out of them.

Well here we go! Lots of history in the first game.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704881304576093912573412784.html?mod=WSJ_Opinion_LEADTop

ccchristlPackers running back Clarke Hinkle, left, tries to get past Bears defender Hampton Pool in the Dec. 14, 1941, Western Division Playoff game at Wrigley Field in Chicago.

"The Packers and Bears clashed for the first time in 1921, and they have played at least twice a year since 1925 (except for the strike-shortened 1982 season). But only once before have they met in the playoffs—in 1941, one week after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

The game, played at Wrigley Field, drew a sellout crowd of 43,425. The Bears won and played host to the New York Giants in the NFL championship the next week. That game drew 13,341 fans."

With Rogers and company seemingly peaking at the right time Green Bay should have no problem handling the Bears.

If the Jets can get after Big Ben Rothlesberger and Sanchez can run around like a bitch without getting hit the Jets should get it in a close one.

Something about the Packers Steelers match up sounds intriguing. Jets haven't been since 1968? Could that be right? For that reason only I say Go Jets!

Another nugget;
In 1945, the Bears' Lee Artoe nailed the Packers' Larry Craig with a sucker-punch when the teams first played in Green Bay. When they met again in Chicago, Ken Keuper of the Packers retaliated, using his elbow as a jackhammer against Artoe's face, breaking his nose and jaw, and knocking out 11 teeth. "He went down like a cow in the stockyards getting hit with a mallet," Keuper said years later, with fiendish delight.

These should be interesting games. I would love to see Cutler implode, but the Packers' running game worries me. As for the Jets and Steelers, I think the Jets will have a hard time rattling Big Ben like they did Brady. As Rothlesberger has shown, he can have a shitty game and still manage to make clutch plays when needed. If the Steelers shutdown the Jets running game, it will be Sanchez vs. Polamalu...and I don't see Sanchez winning that.

I can't think of one good reason to pick the Bears to win except that EVERYONE is picking the Packers and I find that annoying,,,,

Jets v Steelers might just come down to whoever has the ball last,,,
That said I'm leaning towards the Steelers just because they're the roughest, toughest, meanest team in the league,,,when people call YOUR WR the dirtiest player in the game, you have a mean team.

Bears v Steelers Superbowl

The game was a snooze until the last quarter. I'm glad Cutler showed his true colors and basically quit on the team because he was ineffective. If Cutler was okay enough to ride a cycle on the sidelines, he was okay enough to play. Cutler's days in a Bears uniform are numbered after today's sorry performance.

I think Jimmy Johnson was right about Cutler in his after game comments,,,
He said until Cutler changes his attitude he will never be as effective as he could be, he needs to show leadership and change his body language when things aren't going well,,,
I don't think he ever will though,,,just like Jeff George he will waste his career pouting and blaming every one around him

No doubt. Even though the Jets were getting smoked in the first half, I saw Cromartie limping around on the playing field. A back-up DB came out to relieve him and he waved him off.

Cutler doesn't have that kind of fire. The guy took himself out of a game over a sore knee. I mean, Brett Favre, whatever you think about him as a person, started a game with a broken ankle. WTF is wrong with Cutler??

The third Super Bowl, but the first to officially be called the "Super Bowl".
It doesn't look like the Jets will be going to Super Bowl XLV.

If Cutler gets traded is that the end of Martz too?
If Martz stays will he push a trade for Carson Palmer,,,

And of course the big one,,,If Cutler is trade bait will the Redskins go after him?

Probably not.

Carson wants out of Cinci, he's more consistent than Cutler, and doesn't appear to be a quitter. I'd make that trade.

God, I hope so. To watch him implode locally and watch Shanny and Danny pull each other's hair out would be too good.

The Jets coaching staff lost that game. Here's why:

1. They lost the pre game swagger they had when they played NE.
2. Horrible play calling on that 1st and goal series. A TD there would have made the difference.
3. Continually handing off to that bum LT. Shawn Greene was running fine and should have handled the load.
4. Once the Steeler's center went down, the Jets should have blitzed more.

Kings of the 60s meets the team of the 70s, in the first Super Bowl of the 20-10s. ..who woulda thunk it? .. Maybe Keith Jackson .. and So the Saga continues...

Observations:

Bears - Unless it turns out Cutler has a torn ACL or MCL, his days with the Bears are numbered.

Packers - It was a great win for them, but the play-calling struck me as very pedestrian after the opening drive. Run, run, run...punt. Throw long, throw long, throw long...punt. There's little from that game that gives me any confidence that the Packers can beat the Steelers.

Jets - The Jets have a great Secondary, but that doesn't seem to matter when the Steelers run the ball. The lack of discipline within the Jets organization showed up against the Steelers. Poor tackling, inconsistent play. No amount of f-bombs from Rexy is going to fix that.

Steelers - I hate to admit it, but the accused rapist has pretty much solidified his place in Canton. I would love to cheer the team if such a piece of shit wasn't leading it. I think the Super Bowl is the Steelers' to lose, despite what odds-makers are saying.
