I never "had" her....+ she has BF and if I were the one who had her attention, I would not want someone else to try to derail it...

If she is in LOVE, what else could I wish for her? If she is happy, content and comfortable? - then why would I try to change her life?

It is a weird feeling, am I supposed to think that I will "save" her from whatever it is she has now? If she is happy...will I ruin it for her in the end? Or is this a case of me having to just say fuck it' and take a chance?

I want to take that chance so much it hurts...but not if there is the slightest chance it will hurt her in the long run.

that's what happens when people refuse to play in the FU;AD.

so, let's keep this place busy and make sure that never happens again.

Now - @ Alias...about letting one go...

I did "let one go" a long time ago...if we had 20-20 hindsight life would be so much easier. She and I would go to my parents condo in the mountains - we were 17 - and for the entire weekend we never turned the TV on once - played Monopoly naked - talked and talked by the fire - listened to music - and of course, some physical activity.

Many things happened over the course of our relationship, which actually spanned over 8-9 years - although we were BF and GF only maybe 2 of those years. I was too immature to SEE her for what she was worth - and too young to realize what we had...

I could write a book about what she and i did...the odd quirky events that endear her to me to this day. But I do not think anyone wants to read a book right now...

So, I will just say that the last years we knew each other were in college - different schools - and she would come visit - we had fun and really got along well - one of the few people I could be honest with at all times...what strikes me now, is that the last few years that we enjoyed our friendship included no sex, and that was fine. There was one time we re-lit the physical aspect - I will never forget kissing her on the back of the neck (this is after a couple of years of nothing physical) and she said "How did you know" in a manner which confirmed that the "feeling" was mutual even though neither of us said a word...just a feeling that I had and acted on...amazing how life is sometimes.

Does this count?

I was on a ferry going across choppy water on a windy day.

The ferry is large with indoor and outdoor seating/lounges. My daughter was sitting inside, reading.

I was walking around outside, and although the windows were dark, I thought I was passing in front of the window where my daughter was sitting.

I started walking as if I were fighting the wind.... my arms flailing about, my head bobbing, taking a step backward and then struggling to walk forward. I grabbed the railing as if I expected to be blown overboard at any moment....

Finally, with great dramatics, I made it inside the door, only to realize that my daughter wasn't there and that I'd been performing for a man and his son, who were laughing away.

I took a little bow.

Outstanding - IMO

Anytime a person can let go and not worry about other's opinions, which equals societies' acceptable behavior, then kudos to you...

You had fun, the boy and father have a good story / memory --- and I am guessing you told your daughter of the mistake, which would open her up to her "mom" being silly and fun - which may allow her to approach you later in life because of the trust that comes from loving / knowing her mother verse fearing you as an authority figure.

The "bow" at the end is definitely worth the bonus to your soul.

I've tried, and by all indications my efforts have borne little fruit.

You can lead a horse to water, etc. I hasten to add, I don't mean to sound presumptuous in saying that; there is much in Miz that remains a mystery to me. I don't have a magic bullet or a golden key, though I do think he would find Viktor Frankl's "Man's Search for Meaning" helpful. I also think Shneidman's "The Suicidal Mind" could be helpful for the way S offers a very insightful and therapeutic deconstruction of the suicidal mind -- the dynamics that drive one to such thoughts, and how to practically and concretely address those dynamics using a cognitive behavioral model.

Along the same lines, a few pages back you said, "There's a reason he's called Mr. Misery," or words to that effect. One offers what one hopes is good advice, but (i) it may not in fact be good advice; (ii) even if it *is* good advice there's the matter of acting upon it. "Putting on the blue suit" can be a drag, painful even. Why not remain by the warm comfort of the intertubes? And yet, that too has its price.

Has Mr. Misery seen "A Thousand Clowns"? It seems to me a good part of his dis-ease arises from the invidious comparisons he makes between himself and perceived "normal" people. From this vantage point, it appears that happiness lies in closing the gap; but this is of course an illusion as there is a great deal of unhappiness among the "normal" people, many (not all, but many) of whom famously - and I think this cliche is quite true - lead lives of quiet desperation.

Anyway, God knows it's very hard to change.

ppp has been making some nice contributions of late. Perhaps he will be able to offer some good advices, as the British say.

I have to go to bed now.

Cheers,

J

Dude, I have had friends... and had no friends..

If you don't have friends (and want them) create them...

You have a vivid imagination... You just have no fight left in you...

You choose to hide under your bed...

It's not too late to get up and fight..

The war is still being fought...

I hope y'all at the FFXU.com are listening to Gulligan.

Where I come from we sum it up like this: The grass ain't never greener, not anywhere, no matter how many fences your horse jumps over.

We like to make it real simple except when things get complicated and then you need a freakin machete if you know what I mean.

Gulligan is the tops, far as I'm concerned. He's damn right about one thing he said---I spend a lot of time comparing myself with others who are quote/unquote "normal".......and that probably does more harm than good. This is something I've thought for a long time now, yet I continue to do it.

How do you know Gulligan? Is he a friend? I thought you had no friends? Please to be explaining.

Yeah... Gulligan is a sharp mind.... Very cultured.... HUGE on the arts... mostly films and books... loves good music, though....

Gulligan has excellent logic.... and is usually a fiery-type poster...

You got a taste of really mellow Gulligan....

I met Gulligan on the internet... We first started battling over Meade Skelton... I think...

I still don't have friends... just one Real Life friend... not counting family...

If you count cyber friends... I have about 5 friends...

but how can you tell an actor is bad if you're unable to appreciate the good ones?

what about Jimmy Cagney?

what about Jimmy Stewart?

what about Marlon Brando?

what about Al Pacino (70's Al Pacino)?

what about Sidney Poitier?

what about Lon Chaney Sr.?

what about Henry Fonda?

Miz... for me... Good actors don't get my attention... It's because they seem natural... I think that they're real people...

I can tell a bad actor... because I don't relate to them... I say.. "why would they do something like that!?"

If it's not a terrible actor.... I am more interested in the story.. and I just focus on that... If there is bad acting... I can't allow myself to be interested in the story....

Does that make sense?

well, I don't know. At some point, when you start seeing the same actor over and over again in different movies, and he's usually really good, I'd think you would have to go to yourself, 'hey, this guy's really good'.

You didn't think Marlon Brando was good in The Godfather? How could you not notice a standout performance like that? You must know who Marlon Brando is before watching the movie, so you can't totally believe what you're seeing.

Or Marlon Brando in A Streetcar Named Desire, or On the Waterfront, to name a few. You can't recognize a major talent there? How about Robert Duvall in just about anything? You must on some level realize you're watching a movie and lose that feeling that you're watching a real person after a while.

So, who's a bad actor to you?

Honestly, I'm more interested in talking about what I PMed you...

But... since we've initiated this conversation... I thought the people in Alpha Dog sucked... I think that most Lifetime Movies suck....

I think Denzel Washington is good..... I think Samuel L. Jackson is good... I think Bruce Willis is good....

I think Al Pacino is good...

I think Sam Rockwell is good...

I think Robert Dinero sucks... (he was good in Godfathero)...

I think Queen Latifah sucks...

I think Martin Lawrence sucks...

I think Eddie Murphy sucks...

I think Dane Cook Sucks...

I think Ryan Reynolds Sucks...

I think Johnny Depp, for the most part, is pretty good...

I don't like Will Farrell...

I don't really like Ben Stiller...

I think Forest Whitaker is ok...

I think Mark Wahlberg is pretty decent, actually...

I think Leonardo Dicaprio is pretty good...

Jack Nicholson is ok....

I hate Julia Roberts...

I hate Sandra Bullock...

I think Elijah Woods Is pretty good....

Honestly... naming individual actors is tough for me... I'm better at naming movies/shows that I think are good...
