What are your thoughts on Jammin' Java? (serious replies only, please)

You know that place in Vienna? I think its okay. Sometimes they seem a bit stand offish towards musicians. They're open mic is hailed as the "holy grail" of open mics in the D.C. area, but Im not sure thats true. You only get 2 songs, or 10 minutes which is hardly worth it. But the host is usually nice.

I believe Taylor Beal went there too. That girl that was brutally murdered.. The Bindley Brothers own it. I think they came down from New York. But they are good.

But the bathrooms are just digusting ! Someone missed the toilet and didn't even bother to whipe it up.

I'm freinds with couple bands that have played there in the past year, and both have expressed negative comments about the way they were treated there. Nothing super bad like the way some local clubs treat their acts, but just a negative vibe about the people that book the gigs there. The staff are generally Ok, although the last time I was over there I encountered an extremely agitated waitress who had just gotten a frozen coffee drink thrown in her face. I sorta hate the place, drinks are expensive and it's very faux-hipster. Whoever told you it's a "holy Grail" should have their head examined. It's about as rock and roll as an overpriced Starbucks can get. Getting gigs there is basically admitting that clubs in the city aren't really interested in your act.

They had to shut down the place after Meade went on because of the riots.

Have you ever had peanut butter on celery? That's awesome. Elvis use to have his chef make him fried peanut butter and bananas. I've never tried that. Remember those funny peanut butter and chocolate commercials? You got peanut butter in my chocolate? Those were funny. I think tomorrow I will do some painting in the evening.

I went once for an improv group with a date (HER idea). It sucked. Too small and it was too late to be pounding caffeine. However, I heard Tom Morello was at JJ a few years ago...

She worked part time or volunteered there. And yes she was brutally murdered by a part time musician, internet addict, 30 something year old ugly freak and narcissist from Richmond. I know you are thinking Meade, but it was another character who fits that description.
