I am thinking about investing a sum of money, for a bit of a long term, in some stock. Does anyone know anything about, or have any feelings for Tesla Motors Inc?

You should read a recently published Wired article about Tesla. I've followed them for a few years, would love one of their roadsters, especially if they are able to ramp up production.

It's a gamble, could be a good one, I believe the US Govt gave them a $500 million loan, Toyota and MB are also interested in what Tesla does. Read up, do your homework and see where your chips may lie. Good luck!

Be careful if you're not used to investing in stocks - you could lose real well. Don't forget those Stop Loss Stops.

Tesla may have seen its best days, for example.

Good luck - your broker should have LOTS of information sources to research stocks you're interested in.

I read the same Wired article and came away feeling that Tesla was a government subsidized pipe dream. The Big Three hasn't really mastered the hybrid or electric economy car, it will be forever before the technology will be ready for sports cars. Tesla will probably die before that happens.

I fucked around with International Rectifier which was supposed to be a huge gainer as they made hybrid batteries, I bailed quickly and it was a waste of time. Bought Ford abiut a year ago and have doubled my money.

Yeah, I bought into Tibco awhile back and, fortunately, am now looking at a pretty nice gain - especially if they get bought by HP or Oracle or someone like that.

That buy, however, was well researched and literally has been a long-term investment.

right-tardz love oil stocks like Kinder Morgan, Chesapeake, and Sandridge. Liberals like myself love progress, we see a better future. We pick stocks like, Amazon, Tesla, and Google.

i'm sure their's a bunch of tesla in VA already NOT

i'm sure NY,NY plans to make cars in USA ... NOT

i'm sure NY,NY wouldn't be selling stocks for a technology they don't know yet and wont produce ... OH YES THEY WOULD

i'm sure NY,NY if they did happen to aquire such a thing wouldn't sell rights to the information and factory to CHINA to make it. beleive that your stupid.

i'm sure a 2016 startup has the where-withall to go head to head with japan america and china for DISTRIBUTION (ie dealerships) and little details like "cost effective large scale manufacturing with existing plants". PLEASE.

------------------------
made in china if it ever gets on the market i bet

oh wikipedia says they have a plant in California (close to chinese sea ports i bet - for a reason)

still... how about the obama.gov solar cell factory ?

i'm sure it's stocks went high before XXX jumped out and the news was released.

at which time NY,NY froze the stock so they could get out before anyone else of course.

KUKA is a German manufacturer of industrial robots and solutions for factory .

that's what happened to the "new harley" that no one liked or bought (the ugly german racing engine harly factorized looks like crap cant crome it)

USA INVENTED large scale electronics and japan/usa robotic arms. usa makes robotic arms

so you have a "new plant" (on shaky soil?) right next to the biggest asian port - they show you they are "assembling" things but not that they make any of it

I bet they dont' make one fucking part on the car - all imported - and in a method of funneling money outside the country the GERMANS got a sweet deal to "sell" some robot arms (using our software no doubt) at a high price to fuck over american robotics makers in usa

i just KNOW all the parts they are assembling are made in asia

SUMMARY: they didn't design anything all from other countries, parts are from asia (sounds like a wwii axis scheme to fuck over usa), and they aren't putting the cars together, mostly they watch german clockwork put it together.

would you like me to look further? or have i seen enough in the 10 sec. i investigated and found more bullshit than substance ?

DAMN! Sven had an aneurysm for 3 straight posts up there.

Tesla and Ford are two that I still kick myself over not pulling the trigger on late 2008. Ford at $1.40 would be a stock to hold on to for life.

Ford is not a stock you want to hold onto for life. It's actually a pretty shitty stock, it's done nothing for 20 years.

They failed to raise their actual dividend this year, only giving out a special dividend instead.
