Who the hell would leave any car with the keys in it in SE, D.C., let alone a damn Jag!?

A 2002 Jaguar S-Type isn't a real Jaguar. It's a Ford knock-off:

"Introduced in spring 1999 as an early 2000 model, Jaguar's smaller rear-drive luxury sedan shared its platform with the Lincoln LS, since both companies were part of Ford Motor Company. Unlike the Lincoln, however, the S-Type was built in Britain using mostly Jaguar-specific components. Seating five, the four-door sedan came in two versions, with two different engines. The 3.0 sedan used a 3.0-liter V6, derived from a Ford design. The S-Type 4.0 held a 4.0-liter Jaguar V8. Both engines drove a Ford/Jaguar five-speed automatic transmission. Lincoln's LS used its own versions of each engine."

So it's probably a more reliable car.

I used to see the S models really cheap online, someone warned me away from them though.

I think so. Mr. Barry is no dummy - he just does dumb things. After all, his 2002 Jaguar was getting a bit old. And, what a better time to get it replaced? I'm sure in no time, they'll locate the car over in P.G. county - burnt to a perfect KFC crisp. They'll locate the VIN number, confirm it was Barry's and then he'll get a check. He'll then be out shopping for his next automobile. Any bets that he chooses to go to Eastern's Auto Group for his next purchase? LoL.

I gave a dead beat crack addicted brother whom I haven't seen in years a 2003 Impala the office crew had been driving a while. I thought he was straightening up, keeping a job off the juice and all that. I thought I'd help him out so I kept insurance on it and put him on as a driver. He disappeared almost immediately and 3 or 4 months later I got a call from the police saying that they had located the vehicle. They had to have a HAZMAT team recover and impound it. Seems someone had built a meth -lab in the trunk and parked it in a remote area.My insurance company said they had to total it because it was a bio-hazard. Jesus! They were going to send me a check but after talking with a few people I decided it would be better to eat it seeing the car was maybe worth 6 or 7 thousand at the time and I didn't want it on my record.

Hopefully the Mayor has suffered a similar fate factoring in his background. How funny would that be?

Jaguars don't hold value at all like a BMW or Lexus, they have steep de-appreciation. He probably won't see more than 12k or 13k for an eight year old Jaguar.

He'll get probably enough to buy a similar replacement car with similar mileage. $12 - 13K might still be a bit steep. I think you can find better 2002 Jaguars than the S-Type in that price range.
