He may have some issues. It looks and sounds like he might be a little "touched" in a Meade Skelton kind of way.

The guy just received the ultimate, once in a lifetime job appointment. I'd give him a break.

He blubbers like he has emotional issues. I think whenever you have a grown man cry this much, there's usually something wrong with him.

Like maybe alcoholism? He does seem a bit too emotional. If Stahl ever interviewed me I don't think I could stop laughing at her. I doubt if she could make Dick Vermeil cry! Something tells me Boehner is going to crack under the pressure and wind up at The Betty Ford Clinic drying out for a spell. I'll guarantee you he knocked a few back to loosen up for the interview.

While we're hating on Nancy, I still can't believe she got caught saying that Congress needed to pass the National Healthcare Bill so they could see what was actually in it. I'd rather see a little emotion out of Boehner than lots of stupidity out of Pelosi.

Saddam Hussein would cry as he sent his friends off to be executed; I'm sure it's not an easy thing to do (if you're human and have a conscience).

Saddam Hussein was a sociopath without a conscience. If he did "cry," I'm sure it was an act designed to garner sympathy from his inner circle.

Boehner is no Hussein.

She said no such thing. This is the kind of nonsense that makes our political discussions so idiotic. It's like catching Sarah Palin saying North Korea when she meant South Korea, or Barack Obama accidentally saying 57 states instead of 47. The reality is that legislation changes constantly as it is going through the political process and the final contents wouldn't be known--to the public--until the law finally passed. Pelosi did not say that it needed to pass so that they would know what was in it, she said it needed to pass so that the reporters she was talking to would know.

Nope, never lived in CA and never voted for Pelosi. But after seeing Boehner's little cry-fits, I really gotta commend the GOP for finding the most qualified woman to replace her.

Um, no, there's actually a film of him addressing the parliment after he took over and as a guy reads names off a list, Hussein sits at a desk laughing at them as they are dragged outside the building to be shot. He was a pretty big asshole.

Your articulate, eloquent, and substantive rebuttal aside here is the exact quote of what she said:

You’ve heard about the controversies within the bill, the process about the bill, one or the other. But I don’t know if you have heard that it is legislation for the future, not just about health care for America, but about a healthier America, where preventive care is not something that you have to pay a deductible for or out of pocket. Prevention, prevention, prevention—it’s about diet, not diabetes. It’s going to be very, very exciting.

“But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy."

They've made some progress but aren't where I think everyone would like them to be yet:

Cato's Mr. Harper said he would like to see full compliance from the administration on the president's so-called "sunlight before signing" pledge, which got off to a "lousy start" in 2009 when the White House posted only six out of 124 bills on its website for the requisite five days before Mr. Obama signed them. As of Nov. 8, Mr. Obama had adhered to his pledge 103 out of 159 times this year, with one exception for an "emergency" bill.

Life is a process and a series of compromises--sometimes you have to give up one thing to get another. I never expected that Obama would come in and on day one fulfill everyone of his campaign promises. What's important to me is that he has the same values that I do and that I know he'll try to move things in the right direction. Take Afghanistan or Iraq, for example. It would be nice if both those wars were over and in a perfect world they would be. Did I expect Obama would come in and withdraw all troops on day one? No, of course not. But I'm confident he wouldn't have started the war with Iraq and will bring it to a close as quickly as is reasonably possible.

Fiscally, I'm a conservative. The meaning of that has gotten so distorted that saying that is actually opposite of what people generally mean these days. I believe in taking responsibility for what we all know needs to be done. We need roads, we need some sort of safety net, we need national defense. Being conservative to me means paying your bills and not ignoring what you have to do. I'd like government to be as small as possible, without just letting everything fall apart. Someone who is always in favor of every tax cut and always opposed to every investment isn't conservative--they aren't thinking.

Socially, I'm liberal. I don't care who you marry, who you have sex with, or whether you go to church--that's your business. I don't want to start unnecessary wars but if we have to respond to a threat I'm fine with that. I believe in being tolerant and respectful of other people's views and try not to be intentionally offensive, but also don't believe in hiding my beliefs. I'm a live and let live kind of person.

" what we all know needs to be done" says it all like there is some consensus- there isn't.

Sure pal. A fiscially conservative.

A health care bill that no one really can figure out the budget of and is, if court rulings stand, unconstitutional?

Extension of unemployment benefits past 99 weeks?

Quick, rushed stimulus packages that weren't bipartisan or shared with the public as promised?

Socially liberal? Yes, Obama supports gay marriage just like you. Oh. wait, no he doesn't.

Dude. you believe in nothing. And nothing you claim to believe in has been put forth by this bitch president you keep defending.

You've wasted precious energy of your life trying to feel good trying to pretend you are promoting these views, when you are doing something entirely different. Do you get school credit for this or does it get you pussy from some activist nerd chicks?

You believe in nothing, you've just picked a side.

Hope "fittin' in" feels good!

While you haven't gotten nothing right in your characterizations of me, I do agree that trying to explain anything to somebody so cynical and misinformed is a waste of precious energy.

There seems to be a concerted attempt on the left to dilute and redefine conservatism. Liberalism has such negative connotations attached to it, and it has failed so miserably throughout history, liberals don't even want to be called liberals anymore. They're "progressives". What a nice word! They have to be on the right track they're "progressives!

Some "progressives" are now saying that they are the true conservatives because they think we should raise taxes high enough to balance the budget. They will also do some token rap about cutting spending but they are not serious.Progressive fiscal responsibility? Talk about an oxymoron

They cite Reagan of all people to try and prove their point claiming the TEFRA act in the 80's was what launched the greatest economic expansion in world history not the initial across the board tax cuts. Liberals start with a pre-determined agenda to rewrite history and hope enough people out there will fall for their tripe.

No matter what they say to diffuse their ideology and confuse their audiences their basic beliefs always come sounding through the fog they create. If you don't believe in getting rid of the base line budgeting process Congress has used forever, and if you believe "the rich" don't pay their far share of taxes and you are a failure or have not realized your idea of success because the system gives to some unfair advantages, not only are you a liberal, you are a loser and fooling no one but yourself!

The right has certainly won the war of language. They've brought in people like Frank Luntz to do focus groups and figure out which terms to use to sway public opinion. "Conservative" has been redefined to mean pretty much someone for low taxation--all else be damned. I find a single label to be too blunt to be meaningful. Too many people these days have values that sometimes don't adhere to the traditional profile of a single descriptor. There is no reason a person can't believe in generally low taxation but also believe that that government has a proper role in our lives and that investment will benefit all of us over the long term. In fact, if we had been making those investments over the last 30 years instead of blowing huge holes in our deficits we'd be able to enjoy lower tax rates now instead of needing to pay all the bills from yesterday. You can argue all you want about how Congress spends too much, but the fact is that the public obviously wants these services and programs--otherwise it would be a lot easier to get rid of them. There is nothing conservative about keeping the spending but leaving the bills for someone else.

Let me put it simply. There's something disconcerting about a "leader" who cries uncontrollably at the drop of a hat. This isn't Glenn Beck, who isn't really responsible for anything. And the crying isn't on par with what we've seen with Dubya, Carter, Palin, etc, where it's tearing up at an appropriate time. This is a guy who fucking loses it over virtually nothing. I don't know how you can lead people with confidence if they think you have something loco in your coco.

The rich wants the middle-class to subsidize the best healthcare in the world for THEM (they're the only ones that can afford it, DIRECTLY). So they can live to be 110-120 years old with the latest greatest technology and science (funded by the struggling diminishing middle-class)('diminishing' because trying to foot this hopeless bill). This is done indirectly and flys under most people's radar. That's why treatment for minor things like colds and scrapes are charged a million times over the actual cost (something that costs the patient $10 in Mexico can/will cost the patient $2000.00 in the U.S.).

Applying standard economic Capitalist philosophies of supply and demand to the healthcare issue is a big mistake. The motivation factor of the first to walk on the moon is a mute point at this point, unless you think that you can live to 300 years old if the government would just get out the way; which seems to be the prevailing logic. Which is Obama's fault for going about it the wrong way. OK it's not just his fault, but he is the President, so I'll blame him. Makes me feel smarter than I really am. And I'm a Conservative Anarchist.

She was lying to get their vote. What's the big deal? They all do that. All politicians have to lie to their base (Political Science 101). Republicans do the same thing, for example, they preach no more welfare to the working-class and then turn around and bailout every millionaire country-club shit that gave them 'presents' back in the good ole days. What's the big deal? . What's new?

Yeah, Everybody knows the politician's base (the far right and/or far left) are the suckers (the sacrificial lambs) of the rich liberals and rich republicans. They are the sacrificial sheep by choice(some stand on principle, they choose to be victimized, in an edjuhmuhcated holier than thou way) ,(some reason with their emotions(that would be BoehnerBoy) or in the case of the uneducated or simple minded or easily gullible. The base(s) of both parties think they really know what's going on, and the parts they can't figure out or doesn't fit in a box, they just conjure up the same ole 'original' rhetoric, and start talking in tongues and flailing their arms like the devil taking their souls. The poor things

Here's a theory:

For years, political professionals have quietly discussed Boehner's drinking. Some have told me off the record that his mannerisms remind them of that of an alcoholic. So far, most of the public speculation having to do with the connection between drinking and Boehner's crying has come from the left. In addition to Ed Shultz, liberal talk show host Randi Rhodes recently implied Boehner's crying was due to his drinking.

But the speculation is becoming more widespread. Earlier this year, Joe Scarborough noted of Boehner that "by 5 or 6 o'clock at night, you can see him at bars." And as Politico reported, "One of [Boehner's] GOP colleagues noted that Boehner cries more often later in the day."

Sometimes when he's tearing up, he also appears to be slurring words, as was the case during a 2007 floor speech. But even here it's impossible to diagnose (if the Terry Schiavo case taught us anything, it's not to diagnose something via video). Boehner's slurred words might simply be a result of his trying to speak loudly while not trying to cry. On the other hand, it should be noted that "occupational functioning" is frequently mentioned when defining "alcoholism."

If the crying is being caused by drinking, the guy obviously has issues controlling his drinking. Winston Churchill and Tip O'Neill were known to imbibe on the job. But they never let it impact their functionality in public. Boehner, on the other hand, appears to be on the edge of losing it and he hasn't even officially started as Speaker of the House.

If this continues, and it is related to drinking, I would guess that Boehner won't be Speaker of the House by early 2012.

I said it in an above post and I'm conservative. There is no doubt alcohol use is effecting his emotions. I've seen the guy in action during and after a few rounds of golf. He gets drunk and cries but normally he is a cut up jokster. Also he was slurring his speech on election night when he also cried over the American Dream thing.

I don't think the guy can stop cold turkey without repercussions. He does okay while reading text on the floor and off the teleprompter so he can probably survive his term. The problem is when he gets put on the spot by a reporter coaxing him to a state of reminiscent introspection. He goes all buttery as Elvis would say and sentimentally breaks down. Especially after 5:00pm

I know someone who is a pussy-chasing booze hound who has known Boehner for years and who hangs out with him now and again. Needless to say, the rumor is "birds of a feather."

"pussy-chasing booze hound" Certainly an aprapo moniker for Boehner in the past. Whats funny is his wife just went along with it saying stuff like "That's my John!" and crap. She likes her sauce too though. Last time I saw him the Pussy Hound part of his personality had waned a bit. Seemed like he always had women coming up to him. One thing I remember I thought was strange a few years back, this gal came up to him all excited and it appeared she french kissed him with tongue in the packed clubhouse. He acted kind of nervous and embarrassed. I remember thinking that was kind of strange and contemplated their past. Several of us just kind of looked at each other I'm sure thinking the same thing. Pretty damn funny. Go Johnny Go! At least the guy will be more interesting to watch than Pelosi. Could be a lot of entertainment value there. You know he is going to stay in line. If he doesn't play cards with the Dems there will be Bimbos popping out of the woodwork and that would possibly be his demise.
