Firms Feel Pain From Health Law (Don't expect any salary raises for the next 4 years)

"The most concerning part is not knowing,"
Gregory Greene, executive vice president and chief administrative officer of the truck rental company Ryder Systems.

Where have we heard this echoed before? This is going to be a huge drag on our economy. As the reality that kicking the tax increase can 24 months down the road will have relatively no meaningful stimulating effect on GDP and unemployment data, the new health care law will only compound economic uncertainty as evidenced here

You could easily have said "Firms not getting everything they want, threaten to hold middle class hostage again"

If you're not getting an annual raise you either suck at your job or need to find a better career.

or get a federal job. talk about overpaid and bloated salaries. i know people that got into the federal civil service and celebrated as if they won the lottery. the u.s. should follow the uk's lead and start slashing positions. the country would be better off.

I found it amusing that after the AARP pushed so hard for the health care bill, they recently had to let their employees know that premiums and costs would be rising thanks to the bill

The healthcare bill was horrible for the most part I will agree with you on that...costs much too much for relatively little gained (same with this tax package that Obama is trying to pass).

But to say that there are no raises solely due to that bill is wrong. The issue is the insurance industry. They can raise rates continually and have been...rates increased on avg 10%+ annually long before this bill passed.

The bill makes it worse by mandating that everyone get insurance.

Instead of focusing on the effect side of health care and lining the pockets of a greedy, consumer based medical industry, the guvment should be pumping money and effort into getting people healthier and/or funding lifestyle oriented programs. Look at what people eat and what we do, or don't do, for that matter. Seems to me like everything under the sun, food or otherwise, is designed so the fat mammal has to exert little effort. Just push a button and you get your fix. It is quite appalling. People need to wake the fuck up already and get back to the basics already. This world is going down the tubes fast.

Where have you all been the past few years. Obamacare did not cause these problems. If you have been working for a small or medium sized company the past few years, this has already been an ongoing problem for you.

While Obamacare is certainly causing some new difficulties, its real weakness is that it has done little to solve the existing problems in the system. The reason for this of course is that Obamacare ended up being drafted by the same special interests (health insurance companies, AARP and certain medical fields) that were responsible for causing the problems in the first place. And before Republicans start taking credit for opposing this, how many of them voted for the biggest health care giveaway prior to Obamacare, namely Bush's prescription care benefit for medicare recipients. At least when Reagan proposed the idea initially he had the guts to impose an income tax on medicare recipients to pay for it.
