Right-Wing Media Attack Obama Over Metaphor Used By Reagan And Bush

Media conservatives are condemning President Obama for using the word "hostage" as a metaphor while discussing negotiations. Yet Presidents Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush also used the same rhetoric in describing their political opponents.

Bush wasn't a bumbling buffoon? Where the hell were you from 2001 to 2009?

As for the hostage comment, the problem is Democrats (not Obama) also referred to the GOP as terrorists. That is ridiculous and whatever flak came up with that talking point should be canned for being incompetent.

The problem comes mainly from 'what' is being held hostage. In this case Obama said the American People were being held hostage - in the past they always used the metaphor in speaking about specific policy. A 'policy' is being held hostage by... or '... this spending is being held hostage because of spending', etc. Some of the past rhetoric was close - but Obama's presentation of it is much more personal, much like the way he has dealt with many of these kinds of issues in the past - he doesn't seem to know how to make an attack without personalizing it.

The American people are not being held hostage - the Republicans did not put us in a position where they had to be voting on this change now. The Democrats could have, as usual, fixed this legislation a long time back before the elections. The outcome at this point rides on their heads, and everyone knows it - other than Nancy Pelosi who somehow thinks she can grandstand some kind of change. She is the one who is holding up the process now - she better hope she manages to pull a rabbit out of her hat, or ass, or whatever. Otherwise she will make it even worse for the Democrats next year.

Probably in the same place that anyone who says Obama is NOT a bad President now. His administration is full of amateurs and it shows. The makeup is off, and we see how ugly it really is. Bush sucked, but this moron in the oval is actually worse.

He's not a bumbling buffoon. How can one be bumbling when they have a teleprompter in front of them all the time?

He's actually a teleprompter-bumbling buffoon.
