Heard him talking about it earlier. Was sorta surprised they treated it like it was no big deal. It's been a regular subject for months but this morning's announcement was pretty nonchalant. Doesn't sound like any new changes are in store, although he did mention there might be some kind of TV deal in the future (he seemed kind of annoyed when questioned about it).

I wish they'd keep George Takei as a permanent cast member, his presence really adds a funny element to the show.

He's talked with his therapist about that, he's admitted that it really does bother him. But, he's making alot more money, and once you have an uncensored show, there's really no going back to public airwaves.

I miss the old days with Jackie and Capt. Janks too, but the show is still as good as it ever was. There's no shortage of wacky people out there, and the level of ridiculous prank phone calls and inappropriate song parodies has increased ten-fold since he moved to satellite. They actually had Fred the Elephant Boy call in this morning (remember him?).

I said my sources said he most would most likely re-sign with Sirius-XM, and this was weeks ago before any deal was made.

I am not from DCRTV.com

But pardon me for sharing my future forecast with you. Sorry you were so uninterested.

Go back to listen to Sean Hannity and HIS future predictions. Every day for the past two plus years his show starts with "your taxes are about to go SKY HIGH". My taxes under Obama went down and from what I understand will go down further. So his future predictions tend to be wrong and mine correct.

You can stream it with Sirius, that's mostly how I listen to it. I think they offer a month-long free trial. I wouldn't sign up for that now though, the show will stop next Thursday and they'll be running old stuff until after New Year's.

Elephant Boy mentioned this morning that he's now 52 years old, hard to believe he's that old. So from now on they're going to call him the Elephant Man.

I sorta wish they'd bring Crakhead Bob back, but supposedly that dude's life is majorly majorly fucked up.

I always thought the most disturbing Wack Packer was High Pitch Eric. That dude was just fucked up. I think most of the cast were pretty skeeved out by his presence. Creep city. Really does make you wonder how some people live.

Eric the Midget is an asshole. A couple weeks ago Stern officially swore his presence off the show for good. I know that's happened dozens of times before, but hopefully this time it at least sticks for a few months.

What? You don't think Martha Stewart is pulling in millions of listeners??

Sirius is sorta worthless, IMO. At first I thought it was great, but if it weren't for Stern, I'd never pay money for it. I used to really like their punk channel, but they pulled that off the air 2 years ago and turned it into a 24-hour a day AC/DC channel. That didn't last very long. Now it's an all-Pearl Jam station. How stupid is that?

If Stern hadn't re-signed, they would lose millions of subscribers, without a doubt.

Sirus -XM marketing is built around Stern and NFL with a little NASCAR thrown in. Oprah, Martha Stewart and the Broads (I do love the Broads) can all leave satrad without the bosses caring too much.

As a Howard Stern fan, I'm very happy that he re-signed. I've come to like satellite radio and would keep it even if he left. When I have to drive a loaner or my wife's car for a day or two, I cannot stand regular radio. It's torture. The commercials, the redundant playlists, etc....

WingNut - I agree that Stern sucked those last few years on regular radio. You could tell he was tired of being handcuffed and censored. Give him another chance. He's completely free and it's better than ever. Although, I'll admit that it's been missing a little something without Artie Lange.

He says much more controversial things on the air, but he gets away with it because he brings in alot of cash. Imus got fired because he doesn't have the giant fanbase Stern has and the network could afford to let him go.

See, that's where you are wrong. Stern operates on two levels. Yes, he has brain dead listeners. But he also brings a "watching a car crash" quality to his interviews. I loved when he made Henry Hill cry during an interview. Or he would ask something totally inappropriate of guests to get a rise out of them. Most people in the media these days don't have the balls to do that...which should be part of their job description, when you think about it.

Spot on. I got a free 6 month subscription when I bought a new car in April. I never planned on signing up and paying for it but once October came around and the freebie was set to expire, I had to have it. The commercial free aspect is so much nicer than regular radio - it is worth the price.

It seems painfully obvious that people from the Mike O"meara show and the Junkies post here with the intetnion of trying to keep their shows relevant. Watch how the threads pertaining to either of the two aformentioned shows continuously pop to the front of the Fairfax forum: any advertising is good advertising, and it is free here. The truth of the matter is, and I am sure the Junkies at least woul admit it , is that nobody in radio commands the kind of revenue and has the type of power that Howard has. Howard is a genius, he exposes hypocrisy and blatantly exposes the parts of human nature that most of us prefer to keep hidden. Further, he has kept on trucking through te loss of Jackie, the loss of Artie, and so forth. As long as Howard, Fred, Robin, and Gary are in place, the show will be phenomenal, and it still is. I have been a listener for about 30 years ( I used to listen behind my mom's back as a young kid) and I would certainly, like a projected 4 million other people, have left sirius had Howard left. I am glad he didn't. All other radio shows are a distant second.
