All I remember is Columbia Heights, and the massive slum it used to be. You're right, now it's basically yuppie central, with a really revamped, classy feel to it. I can't believe how parts of the District have changed since I knew them as a kid (Even the section around RFK is considered a desirable location these days!).

I went there in the late 60's and early 70's. You could drink at 18 in DC so they rarely carded you. Great times.

The first time I went down there they had alot of jazz clubs along with the strip joints. I think my first visit was the winter of 1969. I have fond memories of that first visit....I think from what I remember. They lost some of the places from the fires after King got killed. Burned alomst half of the places from what I remember. So the early 70's were even better then the 80's, when it was on its last hay-days.
