Since we're in a religious tempo around here, I thought it would be interesting to get the more religious FU members take on how they see Heaven. Having heard a million sermons and Pastoral takes on it, it never sounded particularly thrilling to me.


Some questions to ponder:

If you aren't a complete, subservient, mindless, dull drone here on Earth, what happens to your personality upon entering Heaven?

If the above description fits you, than I suppose you'll blend right in. If you go by most peoples view of Heaven, it seems to erase our personalities and turn us into completely other people/things.

The things we find personal pleasure in, the way we socialize, the places we love, our inner thoughts, the food we like and all the good parts and bad parts are the things that make up our character and make us unique from one another. Also, we all look different, wear different clothes, different hair styles and are attracted to certain people and styles.

Do we maintain our personalities in Heaven or do we all become naked, bald, zombies or glowing orbs of energy?

"Life" after death, is probably a lot like it was before you were born...

Death is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get.

I've often thought I might start believing in these mediums and stuff if just once one said "Yeah. He's here. He says the other side is boring as hell and he never really loved you. You were a huge disappointment."

Who am I in heaven?

Not much different than I am on earth.

I’ll be hanging out with the fun people and I'll be dancing.

And, because I’m a nice person, when Numbers comes knocking on heaven’s door, I’ll convince God to let him in... on a trial basis.
Maybe a 90 day probation period, where Numbers has to follow me around, do as he’s told and repeatedly say, while bowing, you were right, Alias, oh great one.

When I was a kid, I thought heaven was a place of no pain, no suffering, where you just had fun every day with no concerns or worries. All your pets, friends, and family would be there. It would be awesome.

Then I got older and was told that, in heaven, you worship God all day every day for eternity. Nothing more. I thought it sounded kind of boring, but I was still a believer at that point.

Now, when I think of worshipping God all day every day, it's a depressing thought. Imagine waking up every day and doing the exact same thing over and over for every waking minute for years, exclusively. No friends, no family, just the exact same task repeated constantly for years. Now imagine doing the same thing over and over again for eternity, except you don't need to eat, sleep, or do any other biological functions. Over and over again.

On earth, that would drive you insane, or if you do it willingly, is a strong indicator that you're already insane. There's no way a sentient being can keep that up for years on end, let alone eternity.

So let's say the part of you who would get bored with it and want to do something else after a couple millenia is taken away from you. You'd have to have your desire for companionship, friends, and family taken away, too. You'd be a creature devoted to a single mindless task. You wouldn't even be you anymore.

Why a kind and loving God would expect this of anyone is beyond my ability to comprehend. It sounds more like Jeffrey Dahmer's attempt at making zombie sex slaves than anything else.

I would imagine that Heaven is like sex right before you explode in orgasm; all day (though there is no concept of time, space ect.) every day, and at any given time (although there is no concept of time).

Think of the most favorite thing that you love to do, eg. sex, killing without remorse, without pain and suffering, unpleasant feelings or anxiety.

Why the fuck would you not want to go to heaven?

Never get sick (unless you want to be) Never get hungry (unless you want to be). Never feel pain (unless you want to feel it)...
