Are people on the internet how they are in real life?

Some of my encounters with people on the internet really make me sad if thats how people are in real life. I like to assume that people aren't exactly who they are but "in character" or attune to a persona that allows them to vent and escape from the hum drum of every day life
There seems to be a cognitive dissonance between a person's real and ideal self that
initiates a false identity online, creating much confusion amongst those who interact with them. If people are exactly who the are online or on message boards, I would be very concerned. Because some of the behavior that is exhibited on here does not suggest that these people are of sound mind and body.
I made arrangements to meet this girl I met on the internet. She turned out to be heavy as hell. I told the driver of my Rolls to keep driving and take me back to my Learjet. The evening wasn't a total loss, I had a threesome in the Lear with the two hot stewardesses.

No, they aren't mine. I just searched "pupppies" on youtube and that's the first thing that came up.
I think I am the same online and off as well. I try to be nice here and in life. If I don't have anything nice to say, I usually say nothing (except the time I complained about the drivers trying to run us pedestrians over)
