Americans Taking Back our Democracy
Posted by: conVince ()
Date: November 02, 2010 09:40AM

Over two weeks where our President has called non-demokrat Americans "enemies" and publikly-funded, demokrat-managed NPR fired one of their own for expressing an opinion in an act of censorship paid for with government funding.

Over two years when "dude" B. Hussein O. and Pelosi and Reid wrote health insurance kompanies and their profits into legislative immortality.

With the spectre of crushing tax increases in the years ahead, driving our demokrat-kongress-since-2006 ruined economy into further shambles.

Americans rise today and take back the country they stole from us. Americans will restore honor this day, and march onward to completing the act in 2012.

I have a few bottles of wine already chilled for an evening of watching The People shoving back against the demokrat socialist agenda. I shall toast each shove one Representative and one Senator at a time. We indeed Remembered Come November.

It will take time for Americans to repair the damage to our country and our Democracy wrought in a few short years by Pelosi, the devil's instrument of partisan hate. But we will prevail, we always do.

You aren't "taking back our Democracy." You think the GOP represents "the people?"

Ah, I make two toasts to the bitter, arrogant demokrat and laugh. Let me spell it out for you. Today there is an election, if you haven't heard. Elections determine representation. GOP is getting sent into power by said election, and the korrupt demokrats are going home to plan their rich korrupt and kriminal workarounds for all the tax hikes they put in place. GOP is representative of The People. Phase one today, phase two is November 2012.

I really don't care. I'm pretty confidence a Republican victory today will contribute to Obama's re-election in 2012. Remember 1994?

No, I just think if you believe John Boehner represents you and not Big Oil, Big Pharma, Big Defense and Big Finance, you are naive.

Obama appoints people to run banks and you call that Republicans supporting "Big Finance"?

Obama totally lets BP off the hook, not nationalizing their North American operations and erecting a complete cone of silence around himself on the environmental catastrophe, and you call that Republicans supporting Big Oil?

Big Pharma? Are you SERIOUS? Hahaha! The demokrats wrote their profits into law and you call that Republicans supporting Big Pharma?

Obama promised to close Guantanimo Bay, does not, proceeds to go all-in on a losing war to protect a korrupt, poppy-fueled sham of a government in Afghanistan that freely and openly admits to taking money form Iran, and you call that Republican support of Big Defense?

Try reading a paper, evidently the DailyKos isn't giving you a well-rounded exposure to the world around you. Try throwing away the talking points, maybe roll them and smoke them and you'll be way more enlightened than reading DailyKos and repeating back bulleted, tired talking points that all have the word "Big" in them. How about this one... "Demokrats lose BIG. The party of BIG losses."

The most entertaining part of this election is that the teabaggers and true progressives/firebaggers are dissatisfied with the Democrats for many of the same reasons, funny how that works.

But the teabagger wackiness is going to spill over and keep the centrist Republicans from getting anything worthwhile done, just as the firebaggers that rallied the country to get Obama elected did to the mainstream Democrats.

Enjoy your victory today, I guess. Here's to another two years of stupid partisan bickering, if that is something to be celebrated.

I just understand that voting for any political party isn't going to "take back our Democracy." This IS our Democracy. And to think voting Republican now is any different than voting Republican in 2004, 2002, 2000, 1998, 1996, 1994, etc, is fucking delusional on your part.

I apologize, I thought that Obama and PelosiReid campaigned on fixing problems caused by Bush and Cheney. I had no idea their true intention was to just let it all go, doing nothing.

Oh wait they did campaign on doing all of that. They did promise to fix all the problems Bush and Cheney and Rove gave us. So if they aren't fixed you continue to blame Republicans? Why have demokrats in there at all then, what is the argument?

You SERIOUSLY believe that the fact that Haliburton had something to do with faulty cement tests causes Obama to not stand up on this issue? And I didn't bring up Iraq, a success the Dems don't like to bring up, interesting you used it to try to change the subject from Guantanimo and Afghanistan.

You are picking on Paulson? TARP saved the entire world's financial system and will end up being profitable to Americans. It was an irrefutable policy success, and yet you use that as a criticism? HAHAHA. Put down the DailyKos crack pipe.

I laughed at how your response, in typical DailyKos fashion, does nothing to defend demokrats. Just more blah blah blah Bush Rove Cheney blah blah.

Americans taking back our democracy...VERY DOUBTFUL. While it is likely that the Republicans may capture a slight majority of the seats in the house, I suspect the most striking feature of this election will be the number of registered voters who didn't vote for the winning candidate. (Yes that includes those who don't vote.) What we may be seeing is not so much an endorsement of a Republican or a Tea Party agenda but instead an erosion of support for the Democrats. Moderates and far leftists who turned out in droves in the last two national elections to support the Democrats will not be voting for Republicans this time around. They will be staying home in droves. Yes the number of right wingers who will turn out this time around will probably be greater than the last two national elections, but will there be enough to offset the dropoff in moderate or far left voters? NOT LIKELY.

I honestly believe that if you put the choice NONE OF THE ABOVE on the ballot you would find that choice would win in a landslide across the country. Many Americans are thoroughly pissed off at the folks who have run this country. However just as the 2006 and 2008 election results did not so much represent an endorsement of the Democratic agenda as a rejection of the policies of Bush et. al., the results of this election will not represent support for the Republican or Tea Party agenda so much as a rejection of the agendas of Obama, AND EVEN MORE SO Geitner and Bernake.

Don't believe me. Well take a look at our own 11th District. Tom Davis or Herrity would be able to win this election without breaking a sweat. However we don't get that choice. Instead we have to decide WHO WE DON'T WANT IN OFFICE MORE, Connolly or Fimian.

Exactly right, its like choosing between ten day old milk and yesterdays bagels. What the hell happened that these two are our only choice. Its like being in a bar at last call when only fat chicks are left standing.

I don't see your names on the ballot. Run yourselves if you think you are a better candidates. Or encourage someone you think would be good to enter primaries. At least vote in the primaries. You actually do have a say in what the choices are.

Obviously all our choices suck, but I would rather Fimian at this point than the Conman who is in Pelosi's pocket. I chose to try to stop the Obama, Reid, Pelosi train over letting it run it's course unchecked. It is almost to our benefit when there is no clear party in power becasue then they are forced to work together to get stuff done. Otherwise the opposite happens, they ram through a crap health care bill instead of taking their time, working together and making a good health care bill.

If you think the US has been heading towards socialism, perhaps you should visit your local library and read about what socialism really is. The US is nowhere near socialism, it is not even heading in any way towards it. If you think following the Republican agenda of no regulation and letting Corporate American reign free without rules is the way to go then our future is a lot more bleak. It was the lack of regulation and oversight that got us into this economic mess to begin with. It was Bush letting his rich corporate friends become increasingly more rich and take our money while we all become increasingly more in debt and without protection. If you believe in no taxes, well, no taxes means no roads, no public schools, no police or fire, and no defense. Are you going to build your own roads and fund your own army? Or maybe we should let the free market build our roads and schools for us and charge us tolls to use them? Lets have firms like Blackwater take over our defense for us, they'll let protect us until someone else pays them more not to. This seems like the America I want to live in with no taxes, no rules or regulations, everyone is free to become as rich as they please, every man for himself. That is the American way! Too bad i'll have died before this dream has been realized because I'll have a simple, treatable illness but my wonderful big insurance company is exercising its right not to cover me because i'm not a billionaire tycoon like everyone else will be!

You are right. It is not enough to complain; we need to be part of the process. I do participate in a few things, mostly behind the scenes work. You will probably never see me running for office though. Over the years I have learned what it takes to be a successful politician, and I also have learned I do not have enough of these traits.

ConVince, you are batshit crazy.

No normal person displays photoshopped pictures of the president's logo next to a hammer and sickle. You are a right-wing zealot who's not very bright.

Yes, the Republicans will take control of the House today, and the message of the voters is clear: they are uneasy with the current path of the country and Obama's early leadership. The message is not some mandate that Obama and the Democrats are Communist pigs that are destroying the country.

The Republican majority in the House will be slim, and the Democrats still control the Senate. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next two years. I like divided government. I actually think that there will be some decent headway made into working on the economy since Obama is pretty reasonable and open to compromise.

One important facet in the Senate, however, is that the Democrats have now lost their so called "Super Majority".

Idiot Chris Van Hollen on Sunday was predicting that the demokrats would keep the House. Way to fall in line there, falling into lock step with Pelosi. Or he is a complete fool, I guess that is the case for both.

Phase One is complete, with a landslide national rebuke to Obama and the demokrats. Reid keeps his job (amazingly). Nancy P, you can take a seat.

And Sean Hammity pridicted everyday, Monday through Friday, for the past two years that my taxes we "about to go sky high" and they did not. They actually went down under Obama.

If your taxes are going down under current law I'm not sure how one pulls that off. "Under Obama" is a term that has two years left, and the Bush-era tax cuts have not been extended. If one makes much money at all there will be an impact Jan 1 if they are not extended in the lame duck session. If your income taxes do not increase under Obama, it will be because the tax cuts end up being extended for whatever your income level is. And if you have any investments at all they will be taking a serious tick upward when 15% long term cap-gains go away and 15% qualified dividend tax goes away.

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — What if a president cut Americans’ income taxes by $116 billion and nobody noticed?

It is not a rhetorical question. At Pig Pickin’ and Politickin’, a barbecue-fed rally organized here last week by a Republican women’s club, a half-dozen guests were asked by a reporter what had happened to their taxes since President Obama took office.

“Federal and state have both gone up,†said Bob Paratore, 59, from nearby Charlotte, echoing the comments of others.

After further prodding — including a reminder that a provision of the stimulus bill had cut taxes for 95 percent of working families by changing withholding rates — Mr. Paratore’s memory was jogged.

“You’re right, you’re right,†he said. “I’ll be honest with you: it was so subtle that personally, I didn’t notice it.â€

Few people apparently did.

In a troubling sign for Democrats as they head into the midterm elections, their signature tax cut of the past two years, which decreased income taxes by up to $400 a year for individuals and $800 for married couples, has gone largely unnoticed.

In a New York Times/CBS News Poll last month, fewer than one in 10 respondents knew that the Obama administration had lowered taxes for most Americans. Half of those polled said they thought that their taxes had stayed the same, a third thought that their taxes had gone up, and about a tenth said they did not know. As Thom Tillis, a Republican state representative, put it as the dinner wound down here, “This was the tax cut that fell in the woods — nobody heard it.â€

There is no question the above is true. My point was answering the assertion that income taxes will not go up under Obama, and under current law they will rise rather dramatically.

Get back to me when that actually happens, which it won't. The current law--which was a Bush policy--will absolutely be changed before the end of the year.
