Anyone else here that does not partake in voting?
Posted by: Stinkfist ()

I don't vote. I really don't feel like digging into issues and deciding which dickhead candidate to support. Since I put zero effort into researching issues/candidates, I feel it's my responsibility to not vote. It is of no interest to me and I could honestly care less.

I'm tired of the "people died so you could vote" mantra. As if that is a rational reason for an uninformed citizen to blindly vote for someone. Yes, people died for my right to vote, but also for my right to NOT vote.

Anyone else not give a fuck? Is it because I'm young? Does this political fire and passion come on at an older age? When I hit 30 will I actually read political columns and watch Hardball and the O'Reilly Factor? Will I find this crapshoot process and abundance of arguing and frustration appealing?

When you were 23, did you give a fuck?

Fuck voting, and fuck anyone who does vote, that's what I always say.

Stinkfist, I didn't think you were so young.

Yeah. I do sound like a grouchy old prick at times. I don't hate voters, but I see no point in being an uninformed voter. It's a mindless activity.

when all the choices stink, what's the point? Why make a big deal about voting? To make us feel better about ourselves? Like somehow the fact that you cast a vote for one rich white man over another elevates you in some way above the non-voters? It doesn't. It's all set up, man. It doesn't want you. You are not in the club. You are not invited. We have voting to keep up the pretense that this is a free country. It ain't. Never was, never will be. There's a small, exclusive club and you ain't invited. You cannot grow up to be president. You must be selected--appointed--for the opportunity to become president. That's it. We--you and I--are in no way involved, wanted, respected, or even considered in this, or any process.

It

Just

Doesn't

Matter.

It certainly does not matter on an individual level. I do agree that often times we are given a choice between imbeciles who we may not care for no matter their party.

I'm trying to remember which comedian it was who said,

"I voted once, back in 2004. All I got for my trouble was George Bush and jury duty. That was a dumb thing to do."

Perhaps you missed the last election where we elected a black man, the son of a single mother from rural Kansas and an absentee Kenyan father.

Outstanding! This thread is very encouraging. The more people with like mindset as the OP the better and I'm all for it.All you young kids and even adults just don't worry about voting. That way you don't have to worry about jury duty too! And really when you think about it, it looks like the Dems are failing with all there liberal philosophies economic theory and what not. A lot of them are turning out to be outright frauds and crooks and everyone knows that all the Reps. are crooks and for the rich. So it really does make no difference who's in power because they're all the same. So stay home.

mcsmack so Machiavelli of you! Since I became American, I've always voted. Certainly my vote is but a drop in the ocean but each vote eventually adds up.

I vote but I rely heavily on portents and omens. I voted for Obama based on a bowel movement that I had the morning of the election.

It's hard to get excited about electing one head of the same two headed monster. Face it, the politicians are not in the game because of some great calling for "public service" and acting in the best interests of the people. With that being said, I do vote in hopes that one day things will change.

Au contraire! Those who DO vote have no right to complain. You are the idiots who elect the ones that screw everything up. You are responsible for what ails the nation!

Watch the Carlin video, he explains it.

Abraham Lincoln was quoted as saying, "No man has a right to rule another without that other's consent."

I choose not to give any of them my consent.

Doesn't mean I am not subject to rule, of course, but it places me on the moral high ground.

To be fair, he is only half black, and he is still rich.

this is a refreshing conversation indeed. we all agree that our two party political system is a fraud, certainly at the federal level. we all agree that there is no difference betweem bush and obama. i read it with my own eyes..we all agree.

so why is it when people speak up and encourage voting for a third party candidate, one that just might, JUST MIGHT govern with the people's best interest in mind...why are these people ridiculed?

we all agree that the corporate bullies and global banker gangsters look upon us as scum, and we clearly are all on the same page that the republicans and democrats are bought and paid for by those bullies and gangsters...

so why are you going to call me a tin-foil hat wearing crazy man when i suggest that Ron Paul wants to confront the fed (ya know, that global private banking institution that owns our country and has no allegiance whatsoever to our country)? we just might have the chance to vote a man in that wants to take our prosperity and freedom back...

why wont we connect the dots and make the move and use our vote for real change? have we given up?
