A Question of Etiquette; Tact

My wife and inlaws don’t have it when it comes to dicussing health and dying issues. But I think I have a keen sense of what to say in delicate situations. The answers below should be clear to everyone; however I may just be overly appropriate.

1. A family member is concerned about a bump on their body. How do you respond?
a. “Oh my God, that looks bad. You need to hurry up and see a doctor!â€
b. “I’m sure its nothing, but you really should get a doctor to check it out.â€

2. An older family member is slowly dying. How do you respond when casually discussing future events?
a. “She won’t be around come Christmas.†(the wormfood response)
b. “Lets solidify these plans closer to the event; you understand the delicate health situation.â€

whatever, death isnt a big deal, so tact isnt necessary. if you fear death, then i guess you may want to be handles with kid gloves with the issue. seriously, it's not a big deal.
