I am not confident that your post is sincere given the fact that every time you post something you need to include some reference to the fact that you are well to do, but if you really care - go talk to him!

What are you worried about? If you are concerned that talking to him may bring you down a class - re-think. If you are concerned that the kids may want steal your watch, coat, or expensive jeans - don't wear them.

If you have real empathy for the kid in the wheelchair, you would not have posted here - you would have just gone over and talked to him by now.

Tia, you can't be serious! EJ already said his posts are stories he likes to write. Even if this one WERE true (which it could be, I guess) just enjoy reading his posts! Your comment reminds me how Marta was watching the football game with me when she said, "You know, most of these sports are based on the idea of one group protecting its territory from invasion by another group." "Yeah," I said, trying not to laugh. Girls are funny.

That's a tough one brah... Any time, and from our earliest experience with the public, we try to truly engage a stranger in anything more than a "Nice day..." moment, we are suspect. If it's the opposite sex, then they're being hit on (sometimes even not if it's the opposite sex). If it's not the opposite sex, then a hand automatically checks to see if the wallet is still there. With folks who have physical difficulties not like the norm, the motivation is automatically "pity."

Any meeting between strangers that results in a substantive interaction must usually be incidental to a larger event in order to appear authentic, but of course pursuing that scenario as a "device" enters into some pretty sketchy moral territory (see Ted Bundy).

The kid's on his own. As he deals with it, so shall we. Reminds me of a tale about a set of footprints on the beach, along side a set of wheel tracks... A wheelchair-accessible beach... With packed sand...

Ah, the beach. That's a beautiful image. But is there anything more beautiful than a beautiful, beautiful flamingo, flying across in front of a beautiful sunset? And he's carrying a beautiful rose in his beak, and also he's carrying a very beautiful painting with his feet. And also, you're drunk.
