Verizon Fios or Comcast?

So we used to live in Alexandria and had Cox Cable, never had any major problems. Moved to Arlington and chose Comcast (Cox not available). We have had nothing but issues with our HD TV's and our high speed internet. Very seriously thinking about switching to Verizon Fios. Any thoughts? Comcast has missed several appts., our TV and internet CONSTANTLY have issues, and their customer service is downright awful.

I wouldn't expect much from either Comcast's or Verizon's customer service (installation guy was the biggest fucking idiot I've ever met) but FIOS is hands down better than Comcast. Their speeds are what they give you (they used to fluff up the speeds but some people were complaining that they weren't getting boosted speeds) and their TV is alright. It has never cut out on me but if you're looking for difference in quality between the two I can't tell the difference although technically FIOS should be better.

FiOS - the quality is excellent, and the internet has never failed (knock on wood) for the years I have had it. If you get the bundled plan for phone/cable/internet depending on the movie 'bundle' package your internet speed is bumped up accordingly at no extra cost. We get 35M/35M at home now - it is crazy fast. They have a middle tier of 25/25 and also a high end tier of 50/35 I believe (assuming you get all the sports packages and such).

Also Verizon has a store in Fair Oaks Mall where you can talk directly to folks to get your service customized and help you take advantage of the current bundling deals. Hands down the best customer service experience I have had in years of dealing with Cable and Phone companies.

I was the first in my neighbourhood to get FIOS and never looked back. Cable would have been okay except my internet would work 6 weeks, crap out, then it would take the cable people a week to 'fix' it...work 6 weeks, crap out, repeat.

FIOS - I've never had a problem, the connection is stellar, the quality is stellar, the reliability is great, and I think their customer service is decent. Not great, but much better than anything I had with Cox (what a name).

If you get a bundle package it will work out somewhat cheaper too. I'd switch in a heartbeat, but then again I had a lot of problems with cable.
