It's really amazing how many people can't throw a baseball. It's the easiest object in the world to throw. It's round, fits perfectly in your hand, perfect weight, has laces to grip. WTF?

I'm glad that I still haven't lost my pitching ability. I went outside last Fall just to try out the old pitching arm again, and I ended up ripping a hole straight through the backstop. Good times.

I think a lot of it has to do with the nerves associated with all those people and cameras watching you do something that you don't do everyday.

It has to be. I have to believe that you start to have those "don't fuck up, don't fuck up" thoughts, then the conscious attempt to override the natural mechanics of throwing the ball just screws everything up.

I'm not very good at throwing an American football. Just didn't grow up with it. Can throw it just not with that smooth missile-like quality, mine is a wobbly mess.

Also, 1st time I "played" baseball, I decided to forgo the glove...bloody well hurt (bit of Darwin for me) quickly learned why they wore those cumbersome looking gloves.
