We'll see what the Supreme Court says about these douche bags this week sometime.

Funny how these liberal pussies didn't give two shits about soldiers funerals but came out in full force when Westboro protested the gay prom qeen/king at GMU a few years ago.

And you are basing tis on what?

I am not anti Christian - so I am pro Westboro Baptist Church. Some of my best friends are local Baptists.

Calling Westboro doucebags? Why do you hate Christians? I am an athiest but I dont hate Christians and would not call Christians "doucebags" like you do.

The issue is your assumption I was addressing you with the first post.

The twisted logic that "if you hate Westboro you must be anti-christian"

I'm not attacking a man, I'm giving up on a lame pussy in frustration.

You did the part you can handle, you wrote about it on the internet.

I wish these bikers would pummel the protesters. That would be a newsworthy story.

And personally, if your religious organization disrupts funerals and waves signs like "Thank God for Dead Soldiers" and "Thank God for IEDs.", then you're no different than the muslim extremists that hate you and us. Go wrap a towel around your head, strap C4 to your ass and run among your retarded brethren and send yourselves straight to hell.

I think I went to school with this kid. Too bad no pics of him in the story.

I like how the biker's dealt with the protestors.

The Original Poster of this thread is a Satanic Cock-Sucking Homosexual
for equating this display as 'anti-Christian'. Although there are many
paganistic riders, this had NOTHING to do with religion and EVERYTHING
to do with RESPECT.

Go find an anti-Christian crucifix, invert it, and
jam it far, FAR up your GAY ASS.

Are grizzled old bikers revving their engines to drown out singing much of an improvement over some nutcases with signs? Sounds like their good intentions are just making a bad situation worse.

THey cam e to a friend of mines neighborhood in Baltimore for the service of a guy who was killed in Iraq. Set up a "human shield" that spared the family from seeing the disgraceful signs and the family was very grateful for the show of support.

Westboro Baptist Church paints the Baptist faith in bad light. I dont support any religion, but these people are as close to fundamental christians as you can get. They would start a holy war if they had the numbers and a cause.

So, you want to point out a logical fallacy? Take a look at your premise and get back to me.

You start out with a premise based upon a logical fallacy. Continue to attempt to support that logical fallacy with more logical fallacies. Then, when someone throws out another fallacy, you pounce on them?!?!

Wingnut is right, you do have the emotional development of a fucking child. Why else engage in a dialogue in the manner in which you do?

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A CHRISTIAN FUNDAMENTALIST.
There are ONLY MUSLIM or ISLAMIC fundamentalists.

CHRISITANITY is broken up into so many different interpretations
and denominations, it would be RETARDED to call someone who believes
in Jesus a fundamentalist.

HOLY WAR IS A FUNDAMENTAL PRINICPAL OF MUSLIMS, or ISLAM.

I keep hearing how "Westboro Baptist is just a bunch of fundamentalist christians". This is really saying that they are true christians, as opposed to part-time christians that only take the parts from the bible that they feel fits their comfortable modern lifestyle.

I give these people props because they walk the walk. I never saw the point of being a part-time christian, since they'll be in Hell right alongside me and everyone that isn't part of Westboro Baptist.

Either you're in or you're out. Which is it?

Too simplistic a thought process to even deserve a response. Sure, your analysis fits your anti-religion dogma, but it doesn't jive with what you call Christian tenets.

With so many groups, tv shows, radio hosts and even politicians being called anti-Christian, why don't I get to point out what is obviously anti Westboro so therefore at least partly anti christian?

I don't consider Westboro to be any more "christian" than the delusional people that behave oddly, or perhaps violently, because "God told me to do it." They preach hate and intolerance, with a supposed Christian based platform. You can argue about their piety but you cannot deny that they are a hate group.

Because they are NOT Christians, they are Westboroians
who practice a radical form of Christianity.

If I believed the Devil was acting as though he was God, and
I was against the Devil, this does NOT make me anti-GOD.

Regardless of their message which I think is really twisted...they are imo protected under Free Speech. Just as are the KKK and Black Panthers, etc.

Do those people honestly think they will win over any converts or get anyone to listen protesting at people's funerals...clearly not. And I think it's terrible that at some peoples most tragic hour you get these buffoons out and about shouting such vile and hatred.

I think some gays should stand outside their church and kiss/make out during their services..some sort of equivalent (revolting by their measure) retribution.

Patriot Guard Riders attend funerals of veterans and service members at the request of the family. While they will drown out the WBC rhetoric and block the signs from the view of the funeral attendees, their mission is to silently honor the deceased. They are invited guests.

And while the WBC has first amendment rights, the issue is whether they have the right to invade and disrupt a private gathering, which is an invasion of privacy and harassment issue, and violates the family's right to conduct the funeral ceremony in peace.

Why THIS my friend, is a GRAND idea!

Maybe FU can rally up support by posting signs at and

What I call christian tenets? You mean like believing in the bible as the inerrant word of God? What are your christian tenets?

Number, I understand your dislike for organized religion, or any religion for that matter, but I can't understand how you can decide the definition of what a religion is, ie Westboro are "true Christians". People will define who they are and I don't have any expectations that they will follow their faith in accordance to my definition of the faiths tenets.

One thing that always turned me off to Christianity is the wiggle room given with the belief we are all imperfact and made of sin. In my opinion it just leads to "relapse and return"- pray Sunday morning, sin Sunday night. But if you accept this as a main doctrine of faith, it should be expected that there is no perfection.

I've come to accept the worlds religions as something a lot of people are born into and practice without a lot of thought, but also that different meanings are held by different people. When people vocalize about the need for a "reformation" in Islam, I can't say much about it. Sure, I'd like to see those goofy bastards mellow a little bit, but if we are to practice tolerance, asking them to change is like bringing a hockey stick to a football game and expecting to take the field.

Religions are what they are. Most American adherents of the Big Three could give a fuck. But I can't see defining someone elses beliefs. When people were stepping on their own dicks trying to stand up for Islam after 9/11 ("Islam is a religion of peace!" "Islam was hijacked by radicals"), I figured plain and simple I couldn't make a pronouncement either way. Yeah, there are some very loud bad actors that need to be handled, but a lot more born into a belief who won't fuck with anyone.

I can't tell anyone what they do or should believe, but I can protect myself.

Anyone want to bet that Westboro will get their shit handed to them soon by the SCOTUS?

The issue will be the disruptive actions at funerals, not the "speech". The issue will be the place of the protest, whick local law enforcement has every right to curtail.

5-4 decision. The usual characters voting the usual ways.

It's not up to you to decide whether you're worthy of eternal life. Play by whatever rules you want, but what's the point if you don't follow the rules set out in the bible/Quran?

The only worthwhile change is complete withdrawal from the faith. Anything else is unacceptable to God anyway, so why not bag the whole idea?

I agree. Since we're in the 21rst century and all this religious stuff has been thoroughly debunked, I can't see giving religious groups tax exemptions, school privileges and abilities to pass even crazier laws or blow the world up in Gods honor.

I don't think WBC falls under TRUE fundamentalists as numbers claims, somehow, I doubt Jesus would advocate disrupting a funeral service or claiming that God hates people. The people at WBC have obviously twisted their interpretation of Scripture to meet their own beliefs, just as others have done in the past. It is called a CULT. Remember David Koresh, Jim Jones, the Haley comet people? CULTS, not fundamentalists.

I'm there, but I guess I've just accepted some people are going to need some spiritual feeling of well being and I should live and let live.

Take it as a compliment to your own reasoning if you feel you've figured out a better way. There will be emotionally needy people on Earth forever.

Well, not really. I encourage you to read Genesis and Exodus and get back to me on that.
Few things ever written are more twisted than the Old Testament.

cult

–noun

a religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader.

I believe we have had this discussion before about the Old Testament, it was written for people who were alive prior to Jesus. Hence, the sacrifices and such. The New Testament was meant for those of us alive after Christ thus, we no longer are doing sacrifices for our sins. To state that everything in the Old Testament is meant for those of us living now is doing just what the WBC people do. Twisting Scripture and taking it out of context.

Or, maybe if you oppose Westboro, you could be lableled ant-Democrat? What about that? It is about as logical as your faulty thinking. Maybe partly anti-Democrat?

Are you opposed to the Westboro Baptist Church and its founder? If so, you might ought to be labled anti-Democrat.

One can hope, but if so, I think the ruling will be qualified in regard to 1st Amendment rights. In the case yesterday they lined up along the procession route, which is a tough call as far as invading privacy and harassment. I personally think WBC will go on, and the PGR will continue their blocking actions. WBC was expected to be in town this week, either for the viewing in Silver Spring on Sunday, or along the route yesterday. They are a family of screwballs with whacko followers. Cult is too kind a word for them.

Not quite true, the first four books of the New Testament, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were all written by his actual disciples (each book bears their names)that were with Jesus during His lifetime.

The New Testament was first being written within 15-20 years after his death.

WRONG.

Correct Answer : A "Christ" is a savior.

From http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christ?wasRedirected=true :
The word is often misunderstood to be the surname of Jesus due to
the numerous mentions of Jesus Christ in the Christian Bible.

Also

From http://onlinedictionary.datasegment.com/word/christ :
Christ \Christ\, n.
The ANOINTED; an appellation given to Jesus, the SAVIOR.
It is synonymous with the Hebrew Messiah.

No I agree, it could be just a translation issue. There could be more. There could be alot more.

So if you admit that there are translation issues, then do you admit it should not be taken litteraly? Many would disagree and say it should.

No idea about Obama, but they certainly shouted Go Gore Go. Many helped run Gore's primary campaigns in KS. Phelps, Jr. was even a Gore delegate and held a Gore fundraiser at his home. Then, there are the numerous pictures of Gore and members of Westboro. And, let's not forget that Phelps, Sr. got 30% of the vote in the Democratic primary for the US Senate seat in KS.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Gore is a Democrat, right?

So are you saying the Old Testament (and the stories within) are bogus or written to only appeal to a short term audience? WTF?

This is God we're talking about here, the timeless, eternal creator of mankind. Are you saying the sacrifices, genocide, bizarre sexual practices and the 10 commandments were meant to be discarded in a few years for a newer, less violent story?

If this is what you're saying, than it destroys all the back story for the arrival of Jesus (the whole bloodline thing, God the father, sin, etc....) and therefore debunks the Jesus story and leaves it with no meaning or point.

One could then ask, exactly what sin(s) did Jesus die for? Nobody asked him to die for our sins anyway. Did all this make for a better world? No, it just got even more violent and much of the violence was based around all this and continues today.

Your idea the the old testament was written as a short term directive doesn't hold any water, sorry.

THERE ARE NO SACRIFIES AND SUCH IN THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.
NOBODY DISCARDS THE TEN COMMANDMENTS EITHER.

LASTLY THE BIBLE MAY HAVE BEEN ALTERED FROM IT'S ORIGINAL

"Christians" do a lot of name calling. I try not to call names. I just speak what I believe. It seems the "Christians" here like to call me and others horrible names for doing so.

Maybe Troll is a Westboro Baptist Church member?

Saying someone is a moron is not calling them a name. It is a comment on their mental ability.

I said "9) if step 8 is too difficult, go to customer service and say "I cant see and need to see the eye doctor". The rep will assign someone to lead your dumb ass to the doctor." Preceded by "IF". Not calling him a dumb ass in general, just he is a dumb ass "If" he can not find the doctor.

Supporting a Supreme Court nominee and spelling their name correctly is a a good thing.

Oh, that person WAS a dumb ass by what he said. No name calling, just truth. If you say something that proves you are a dumb ass, I will tell you that that you are a dumb ass. There is a difference between that and someone calling me "pedo.." based upon no evidence and no truth to that distinction.

You were attacking the poster, not the thoughts. You are as bad as these fundamentalists trying to rationalize an irrational text. You really don't expect people to buy your BS do you? I could really care less if you call people names, but don't act like you don't and don't call out others for doing the same. It is called hypocrisy.

The amount of ignorance regarding early Christian history, the formation of the canon, the associations and titles key New Testament figures, etc. is appalling. I wanted to start writing corrections to numerous posts, but then I remembered that old saying about arguing on the internet and the special olympics...

Again, you don't get it. If someone says something moronic, like "I am a single dad, 45 years old and unemployed and I want to send my kids to the school with the hottest teachers" that person deserves to be called a moron by us and the hot teachers.

Calling that same person a criminal, a retard, or a pedo is uncalled for. I have done the earlier, but not the later.

Actually, I do get it. It is still name calling. There are more respectful ways to disagree with someone than name calling. Just because I may call you a moron for attempting to rationalize the irrational, doesn't mean I am not calling you an unflattering name. Or, I could call you a moron for starting a thread based upon a fallacy.

Nice diversion and deflection. Too bad it doesn't refute the fact you started a thread based upon a fallacy. So, am I to assume it is proper to call you a moron for doing that?
