Weathermen With Guns!

The more I learn about the Air Force, the more impressed I become. Aside from their main aerospace focus, I already knew about their PJ's and Combat-Controllers, but I had no clue about this until now:

http://www.specwarnet.net/americas/10th_cws.htm

SOF attached meteorologists? Not only that, but they also recon terrain and mission related environmental parameters. Needless to say, a SOWT can be one hell of a lifesaver for any Airborne (It'd be nice to not land in trees for once, or to avoid getting dropped straight into a Biblical dust storm). They're under SOCOM, and they embed mostly with Army SF, and Rangers, but also with whoever else needs them (SEALs, Marine Recon, Tier 1 Units, etc.).

[Note: Balloons are normally launched at night, hence the black coloration].

And they are every bit as crazy as the PJ's. Phenominal humans.

You know we fly planes and blow shit up and provide support when the ground-pounders are taking a beatin', right? The Air Force is fuckin' awesome.

If the military were to be compared to popular RPG roles, it would be:

Army: Fighter
Marine: Barbarian
Navy: Healer
Air Force: Wizard
Coast Guard: NPC

Army: Grunts
Marine: Jarheads
Navy: Anchor Clankers
Air Force: Riding the gravy train and living the life of Riley.
Coast Guard: Media pretends they're relevant.

I'll never deny my nerdery. I could probably name as many D&D gods off the top of my head as I could Roman gods. I find it difficult to choose a name when I'm playing an RPG. I could probably describe any spell from the D&D handbook. I LARPed once, and over time have learned to forgive myself for that. I would play D&D again if I could find the right group.

And yeah, I was in the A/V club. What.

Nerdscore: 8
Militaryscore: 1

Sure, USAF is glass cannon ranged damage, but the Navy would be more like a hybrid damage/utility class, since they do enormous damage themselves. Marines would be almost more like thief/rogue with a combat emphasis. Quick-deploy with low sustainability.

I was going to say "Cleric" for Navy; they can re-supply the other troops as well as cast devastating spells play an offensive role. But I didn't want to confuse the non-nerdlings.

I completely disagree with the rogue statement for the Marines. Have you ever met one in person? All they want to do is drink, fight, and fuck. That's totally barbarian.

So you've never met a Marine, then.

I'm sure you have had plenty of experience and multiple sexual trysts with male Marines.

Speaking of Marines the past few exchanges remind me of a joke...

There was this woman named Beth with no arms and no legs who lived with a friend in Norfolk, Virginia that took care of her. One day Beth was complaining to her friend about how she has longed for the affection of a man, since she never had one. Beth's friend came up with an ingenious plan to take Beth to the beach near Little Creek Amphibious Base one morning, as quite a few enlisted men jogged on the beach there before reporting for duty on the base.

The two ladies arrived at the beach and got situated on a blanket by the ocean in time for the sun to rise. As they were sitting they noticed a strapping young sailor running along the shore. Beth's friend encouraged her to start crying really loud to try and get the young sailor's attention. As he came closer Beth started balling. The young sailor stopped and asked: "Ma'am, why are you crying?". Beth replyed,"As you see, I have no arms and no legs and I've never had the opportunity to hug a man or feel any affection, and this makes me very sad." The compassionate young sailor picked Beth up, gave her a huge hug, set her back down and told her it was his pleasure to oblige her desire.

Beth, was thrilled that this sympothy thing was working so as the next soldier running along the shore approached, she once again started crying. This time it was a young Air Force major. He stopped and asked,"Ma'am, why are you crying?". Beth replyed,"As you see, I have no arms and no legs and I've never had the opportunity to be kissed by a man, and this makes me very sad." The compassionate young Major picked Beth up, gave her a huge kiss, set her back down and told her it was his pleasure to oblige her desire.

Beth, again thrilled that this sympothy thing was working told her friend to go get coffee and give her about an hour of privacy before returning. Beth's friend left and another soldier came running down the beach. As the soldier approached she started balling like a baby. This was a Marine Gunnery Sergeant. And he stopped, stared and said, "Ma'am, why are you crying?". Beth replyed,"As you see, I have no arms and no legs and I've never had the opportunity to be fucked by a man, and this makes me very sad." The Marine picked her up, threw her in the ocean and yells: "You're fucked now!", as he continued to run down the beach.
