Death
Posted by: Mr. Misery ()
Date: October 01, 2010 10:10PM

when do you think it will happen to you? How do you think it will happen? Doesn't it scare you? You are going to die. Your body will decompose and fall apart. Worms are going to eat you. But, worst of all, eventually no one will remember you, unless you're very famous, like William Shakespeare, or Plato.

Do you think people will remember Nicole Kidman 300 years from now? Is Nicole Kidman famous enough to be remembered over hundreds, even thousands of years? Does Nicole Kidman matter enough to be remembered that long from now? What is the level of fame needed to be remembered hundreds and thousands of years from your death? I bet they had Nicole Kidman-level famous people 2,000 years ago, and we don't know them. You'd have to be super famous and important, like Plato, to be remembered over a vast period of time. Do we have any Plato-famous people alive today?

Do you think you're on the same level as Plato? Not a chance. So what's the point. Even the sun is going to die. Nicole Kidman is garbage. Who the hell does she think she is. Like 10,000 years in the future people will know Nicole Kidman. yeah right. What garbage. Where does she get off?

I wish the Church of Scientology would declare Chuck Hoffmann a suppressive person and wage war against him. It would be most funny.

A suppressive person is a person who seeks to suppress any betterment activity or group. The suppressive person, also called an antisocial personality, works to upset, continuously undermine, spread bad news and denigrate other people and their activities. While it has sometimes been said that a suppressive person is just anti-Scientology, the fact is they oppose anyone doing better in life. Such people are not always easy to identify; however, they can be known by specific characteristics:

1. He or she speaks only in very broad generalities. “They say...†“Everybody thinks...†“Everyone knows...â€

2. Such a person deals mainly in bad news, critical or hostile remarks, invalidation and general suppression.

3. The antisocial personality alters, to worsen, communication when he or she relays a message or news.

4. A characteristic, and one of the sad things about an antisocial personality, is that it does not respond to treatment or reform.

5. Surrounding such a personality we find cowed or ill associates or friends who, when not driven actually insane, are yet behaving in a crippled manner in life, failing, not succeeding.

6. The antisocial personality habitually selects the wrong target. If A is the obvious cause, the antisocial personality inevitably blames B or C or D.

7. The antisocial cannot finish a cycle of action. The antisocial becomes surrounded with incomplete projects.

8. Many antisocial persons will freely confess to the most alarming crimes when forced to do so, but will have no faintest sense of responsibility for them.

9. The antisocial personality supports only destructive groups and rages against and attacks any constructive or betterment group.

10. This type of personality approves only of destructive actions and fights against constructive or helpful actions or activities.

11. Helping others is an activity which drives the antisocial personality nearly berserk. Activities, however, which destroy in the name of help are closely supported.

12. The antisocial personality has a bad sense of property and conceives that the idea that anyone owns anything is a pretense, made up to fool people. Nothing is every really owned.

In summary, suppressive persons are unemployed losers living with their moms.

I am begining to think only 2 people post here: Meade and me.

But to answer your question, I will not care and neither will you. When you are dead, all esle is trivial because you are dead.

When you are sleeping are you scared? No. Even with a nightmare the fear doesnt begin till you wake. Death is the same thing times 100. Nothing will matter to you because you are dead.

You will not look over your loved ones. You will not dance with Ginger Rogers or jam with Jimi Hendrix. You will be dead and they are somewhere else, dead as well.

Trust me on this.

I may be wrong, but he seems to have an appreciation for spirits and afterlife images. We need to find someone who thinks that we're just worm food after death.

right, I agree. It's not being dead that's scary, it's knowing that you're going to die that's the scary part. On some level, every person is afraid of dying. If you say you're not, you're lying. And when you go to sleep, you expect to wake up again, so it's not the same. Death might be the same as dreamless sleep, but the expectation of death isn't.

and I still think Nicole Kidman is garbage.

I hope you understand, though, that
"fun" on FFXU is a different kind of "fun".

And you will end up a target if you can't "play"
nicely with others.

I'm just sayin'....

I'd love to hear that 911 call.

Operator: "911, what's your emergency?"

Chuck: "Yes, hi. MrMephisto said he was going to kill me."

Operator: "Calm down, sir. Now, who is this person? Are they there with you now?"

Chuck: "No, I'm alone as usual. He's some guy on a message board."

Operator: "Can you tell me what he looks like?"

Chuck: "I don't know, I never met him."

Operator: "So how exactly did he threaten you?"

Chuck: "Well, one user said that someone should die and let everyone know what happens afterwards. Then MrMephisto, he... he... *sniffle*"

Operator: "I said CALM DOWN, sir. Now, what did he say?"

Chuck: "He said I should volunteer so I could write about what happens in my stupid blog."

Operator: "Did he say anything about his intention to harm you directly?"

Chuck: "Well, no... not exactly. He didn't say HE was going to kill me. But asking someone to volunteer for a tremendously-flawed and obviously-bullshit experiment involving death and the afterlife counts as a death threat, right?"

operator: "It does not. Did he say he was going to 'rip out your heart and feed it to you' or 'pound your head in with an ice pick?' Anything like that?"

Chuck: "Well, no... He didn't say anything like that. But I'm like, really scared here! He mentioned my name in a sentence that made a passing reference to death in a comment that another user made. Isn't that enough?"

Operator: "Sir, the 911 emergency line is for actual emergencies, not your wounded ego and petty childishness. If you continue to bother us with this trivial nonsense, you will be arrested. Good bye."

Chuck: "But wait! He doesn't know who I am or what I look like or where I live!"

*Click*

Seriously, Chuck. Why don't you save the money you'd waste on a lawyer and go buy yourself a personality.

You probably die by choking on leftover turkey. Or tripping over an animal in the dark and falling down some stairs on your way to get some leftover turkey. Look, the point is, turkey is involved in your death. I'd avoid them in November 2028 if I were you.

All I know is that the people most afraid of dying seem to be the ones most confident there is a God and Heaven. They are always the ones praying for a miracle to stay alive. I thought dying and going to Heaven was a good thing.

It just provides evidence that most religious people have doubts, too.

They pray for a miracle because they "believe"

but in the end when their loved one dies they seem

more at peace than those who don't believe.

Isn't going to Heaven a Miracle? Maybe they don't realize they are praying for the wrong thing.

No. Because they don't really believe. Agnostics and Atheists realize that death will mean the end of consciousness. You simply cease to exist. Religious people can't deal with that thought.

I'm not trying to do that. But, apparently, I am raising those doubts and fears in you.

Don't fear the reaper, Troll. You experience it every night when you lose consciousness.

Do we lose conciousness or are we experiencing a different level of it?
We remember dreams we conjure up during this "loss of conciousness" right?

I'm fine with death. Of course, I might change my mind if I am diagnosed with a terminal illness. However, I doubt I will suddenly get religious if that happens. I've had some people close to me die over the years and I've never seen one who was not religious suddenly have a death bed epiphany.

Out of seven or eight hours of sleep, you only remember a fraction of that time as "dreams." What about the rest of it? Do you remember laying there for seven or eight hours.

Granted, it's not totally like being dead because you still have brain activity. But the loss of time perception you experience should give you some indication of what death is like.

WRONG, YOU ONLY REMEMBER A FRACTION OF WHAT YOU REMEMBER.

OF WHAT? I THOUGHT I WAS IN A STATE OF VIRTUAL DEATH. WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO REMEBER OR EXPERIENCE?

As long as my family abides by my wishes, the worms will have nothing to eat. One of the nicer things about cremation.

Besides, the whole open casket body display thing. That really creeps me out. It just leaves scars on the minds of the living. I hope my family is told:

Yes, the Edgar Froese, Chris Franke and Peter Bauman era was pretty cool. Although some moments in their music can frighten you if you were recently deceased. You might start thinking you were on your way to hell.

I saw their live shows several times and was able to catch the tale end of the Chris Franke era.
The first concert was a trip. They used 3 big projection screens around the stage and somehow merged and separated all 3. That was quite a challenge back then.

There is a letter in my safe to be opened upon my death with my username and password to this site. The attached instructions dictate that my death notice must be posted here, preferably rife with grammatical, spelling and punctuation errors and must contain phrases such as "he's made some mistakes, but who hasn't", "he was a good soul and how would you like it if it was your brother or father that passed away", and "it doesn't matter that he was found in a $20 a night hotel will a midget stripper, a gallon of Icy Hot, 3 pieces of plywood, and a cache of small firearms? Who here can say they've never been in the same situation?".

Did you guys hear about this:

Rep. Charles Rangel faces an almost certain censure by the House, a devastating defeat for a 40-year veteran who insisted to the end that he never meant to violate House rules.

If the House votes for censure Thursday as expected, the New York Democrat will have to humbly walk to the front of the chamber to receive his punishment. He'll stand in front of his colleagues while Speaker Nancy Pelosi — in one of her most solemn duties — reads him a resolution condemning his ethical misbehavior.

The House ethics committee took a hard line toward Rangel, 80, the former chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. Most past censures involved congressmen who enriched themselves. Rangel was not charged with lining his pockets, although he did fail to pay taxes for 17 years on income from a vacation villa he owns in the Dominican Republic.

In Rangel's case, the House ethics committee said, his long pattern of fundraising and financial misdeeds justified the most severe penalty short of expulsion.

Fellow Democrats on the committee showed Rangel little more mercy than Republicans, as the committee of five members from each party voted 9-1 on Nov. 18 to recommend censure.

Rangel has had a difficult time accepting the punishment and planned to argue on the floor of the House for a lesser reprimand — a vote disapproving his conduct but without the requirement that he stand before his colleagues to accept the discipline.

His argument is that censure is reserved for corrupt congressmen, and he's not one of them.

In a last-ditch attempt to influence the House, Rangel e-mailed about 25,000 campaign supporters Wednesday. He asked them to call the Capitol switchboard to get connected to their congressmen and ask them to vote against censure.

Rangel was apologetic in his plea.

"I am truly sorry for mistakes and would like your help in seeing that I am treated fairly," he wrote.

Rangel said he posted arguments for a reprimand on his website, "which shows that the recommendation for censure is excessive and that my lapses do not rise to the level of transgressions of those censured in the past."

Rangel filed misleading financial disclosure reports for a decade, leaving out hundreds of thousands of dollars in assets he owned. He used congressional letterheads and staff to solicit donations for a center named after him at City College of New York.

The ethics committee found that he contacted businesses and their charitable foundations that had issues before Congress and, specifically, before the House Ways and Means Committee that Rangel formerly headed. He was not, however, charged with taking any action on the donors' behalf.

Rangel also set up a campaign office in the Harlem building where he lives, despite a lease specifying the unit was for residential use only.

Rangel has paid the Treasury $10,422 and New York state $4,501 to fulfill another ethics committee recommendation. The amounts were to cover taxes he would have owed on his villa income had the statute of limitations not run out on his tax bills.

That's a shame, really. I always liked Rangel.

The prospect of a public scolding in Washington for Rep. Charles Rangel over ethics violations has drawn both sadness and scorn in his Harlem neighborhood, where he was just re-elected with 81 percent of the vote and remains an icon to residents who say they'll be the ones to decide his political fate.

"Charles Rangel has done so much for this community in the Congress, I think he should go out when he damn well pleases," said Rachel Cummings, a 56-year-old substance abuse counselor. "He's not going to walk away with them saying, 'He's guilty of this, guilty of that.' Give him a break."

Thursday's 9-1 House ethics committee vote to recommend censure for the Democratic lawmaker came days after the same panel convicted him of 11 violations, including failure to pay taxes on rental income from a villa in the Dominican Republic and operating four rent-stabilized apartments in Harlem instead of just one. Censure is the most serious congressional discipline short of expulsion; the full House will probably vote on the recommendation sometime after Thanksgiving.

Rangel pleaded with the ethics panel to show him "fairness and mercy" and said he's not a crooked politician out for personal reward. While his House colleagues will determine his punishment, the prevailing sentiment back home is that any decision on Rangel's future in Congress ultimately rests with him and the voters.

Rangel, 80, has represented Harlem for 40 years and remains a beloved figure even as some constituents have grown weary of the ethics scandal. A co-founder of the Congressional Black Caucus, he helped steer millions in federal funds toward the revitalization of Harlem, long the political and cultural heart of New York's black community. He's also been an outspoken crusader against illegal drugs, which he says have devastated minority populations.

Rangel has long used his membership in the powerful Ways and Means Committee to revise the tax code to help low- and middle-income people. He served briefly as chairman of the committee until the ethics investigation forced him to step aside last spring.

"He's certainly established a national profile over his career on issues his constituents care about," Fordham University political scientist Costas Panagopoulos said. "That said, even though voters are willing to re-elect him by wide margins it doesn't mean they're not critical. They think what he did was wrong but they see him as an effective legislator."

Indeed, along 125th Street, Harlem's bustling central corridor, residents expressed mixed feelings about Rangel's conduct and the censure recommendation.

Cornelius Rex, a local marketing consultant, said he thought Rangel had been unfairly targeted because of his race.

"This has been going on in the Congress and Senate for years and they haven't prosecuted white folks the way they've gone after Charlie Rangel," said Rex, 53. "He's someone that's upstanding in Harlem, he's a legend, a pioneer. Someone I grew up around and who I truly respect."

Nonprofit fundraising consultant Mark Jones, 41, said he believed Rangel had abused his position, but added that voters have demonstrated steadfast support for him over the years.

"He's forgiven, but I get disappointed for these politicians who've been in office so long they think it gives them the right to do whatever they want to do whenever they want to do it," Jones said.

Rangel faced the toughest re-election challenge of his career in September's six-way Democratic primary, which included Adam Clayton Powell IV, the son of the legendary Harlem lawmaker Adam Clayton Powell Jr. whom Rangel defeated in 1970. But Powell and the rest of the field proved fairly weak and Rangel ultimately won 51 percent of the primary vote. He cruised to an easy win over Republican Michel Faulkner in the general election.

The elder Powell — the only other person to represent Harlem since it was given its own congressional district in 1944 — was also undone by an ethics scandal.

A civil rights leader and pastor at Harlem's famed Abyssinian Baptist Church, Powell served until 1967 when the House voted to exclude him amid evidence he had mismanaged the budget of the Education and Labor Committee, which he chaired. He won the seat back in a special election, before losing to Rangel in the 1970 Democratic primary.

The Rev. Al Sharpton, a Harlem resident and civil rights leader, said the elder Powell's example was instructive in determining Rangel's future.

Sharpton told a crowd at Rangel's 80th birthday fundraiser in August that Rangel's ethics battle was akin to a "political crucifixion." In an interview this week, Sharpton said he believed the violations were serious but said Rangel's fate, like Powell's before him, should be determined by voters.

"When it was time for Powell to go, Harlem decided," Sharpton said. "If and when it's time for Charlie Rangel to go, we'll decide that. It won't be imposed by people outside the community."
